I just went into the Nether, ended up in a cave system.
Didn't bring a pickaxe.  Damnit.

The Nether is saved in a DIM-1 subfolder of the world folder, though.

at least biomes are in :D Though they seem more like micro biomes, tiny pockets of different land.
Maybe I just haven't found that massive desert yet.

The new server is broken.
Don't even bother trying to upgrade your servers yet.

Same story as me Jay. I was not prepared for being in this cave system. I wonder how the hell I get back now.

So... load Minecraft in browser, start a new world. Game freezes.

Try to reload Minecraft.net, it's gone down.

Do compasses work in the Ether? They point back to your gate?

At least the Ether has lots of mushrooms, will make them a real way to get health back now.

I haven't been able to find any pumpkins yet. Loving the new music, though.

Notable bug: If you build two portals in the overworld, they both seem to point to the same portal in the Nether, regardless of location.
Go back through that portal and you end up at the first overworld portal.

Blarg, I'm too late. Nothing can update now. There is the questionable legality of somebody sending me some updates, but Notch doesn't like that and as a Mod on his forums this isn't a possibility. Blarg. Off to moderate a game I don't know.

 Edit: Nope, forums are down.

Weird, my portal made another of itself a few blocks away, was under a glass dome underwater and another popped up when I left.

blast! I look, continue playing sp and look again.

In the space of 1 minecraft night the game was released and the servers went nuclear.  Impressive, not even the bay 12 servers die that fast.
