Everything just suddenly started working for me not a few minutes ago.  You need to download an update though.  It was probably just put out to break multiplayer for all of the free players.

Is your server down Lap?  It times out when I try to connect.

Doing a server defrag tonight so long as the name verification server is still down. Server won't be available for a while. I'll let you know when it's back.

You should probably update to the new version of the map, was cleaned up a bit and a new area.

Based on my limited time with the free version, I bought the Alpha and am playing around in single player. At some point, I'll probably jump on multiplayer. Any tips for a new player (I do have the wiki link, so there's that). Also, it seems like sound isn't working now... I assume that's being worked on?

I think you will have to have all the sounds play, has to load them before or something, makes no sense but that's how it works.

Goddammit, I had sound yesterday. I went to play just now, and NOW it's borked. Worst of all, I can't find the folder the post above me references... whatever the filepath the xp guy lists a few posts down in that thread is, I don't have anything like it :/

Son of a F*** somehow my App data folder got marked as hidden, which would explain why it wasn't showing up in search or the expected file path. I know I'm not this much of a goddammed noob usually  ::)

Cheers Taz.

That's by default. Kinda annoying, but once you know the precise path it really doesn't matter.

Not that it made any difference whatsoever :/

I managed to get sound working when I was offline, but when I popped back online, it stopped. Oh well, it sounds like a fix is being worked on.

Well, I'll assume you've got the basics down.

My one suggestion: use lots of glass in construction, especially of defensive positions. Sure, it looks fragile, but it lets you see out without letting arrows in. Trust me, when you can hear moaning and clattering outside, knowing whether or not you'll be ambushed 3 steps outside your door is a good feeling.  ;)

Free weekend worked...

That combined with the media buzz.

I remember a month ago 1000 in 24 hours was insane.

Now we are at 2000% of that. (20046 people bought the game as of this writing, probably 2-10 more in the time it takes me to post this, perhaps 50 more in the time it takes you to read it!)

I know it's unrealistic, but I can't help but imagine little bearded babies for dwarves. In my mind, they come out of the womb fully bearded. That's how the mother carries them around, too, she just drags them around by the beard or ties it to her belt. When the father's on duty, he just ties their beards together and the baby just kind of hangs there, swinging to and fro with Urist McDaddy's movements.

The most recent number equates to well over $250,000. Wow.
