There's something very disheartening about connecting to an SMP server and the first thing you see is a giant lava pillar. It kind of... undermines the entire distinction between Survival and Creative Mode. I just want to grab a bunch of friends and die horribly in a dark hole somewhere.

SMP is currently just creative with more limitations. Hopefully it'll get better with stuff being added and fixed.

SMP is at the moment pretty much what creative WILL be, I think.
Notch said he'll implement infdev into creative so this seems like how it'd be.
Also, the server I'm playing on currently, we're just treating it as general fun crazyness. we spent 2 days buildings various things, and now we've declined into massive bacon factories and tnt testing grounds.

Anyone want a server?
And it's been stable enough to finish the temple:

I know it's been done before and I'm pretty sure I borrowed this style of columns from some random creative server but it can't hurt to have another building built.

I looked at the taskbar, and saw Stonesense.
Who the heck plays Dwarf Fortress at the same time as they play Minecraft?

I am now terrified that everybody BUT me does.

This is windows 7

they decided to copy the mac launcher thing. I still can't decide weather I like it, so I got this at home, and regular quicklaunch at home.

and I don't actually play DF nearly as much as I should. I spend more time working on stonesense.

The real answer is that Japa has godlike multitasking skills.  He can play minecraft like a pro, all the while coding in Notepad++ testing the changes in Stonesense, defending a 7 Dwarf Fortress from an 80 goblin siege, and making his weekly call to his mother back home on Skype.

Sorta like how Footkerchief is the search engine turned sentient, except Japa is a octo-core NASA CPU turned sentient.
P.S. That's why his avatar shows him underwater, that's actually a holographic projection of his user interface.  It's under water because Japa is water-cooled in a 30000 gallon tank.

Very nice waterfall btw... I built something like that infront of my house once.  Then I realized it put the burning skeletons out that hung around my front door and protected them from the sun.

My new skin

I did not come up with the idea, but I did make this skin.
