Well, I would suggest genning a few worlds and seeing if you get anything, but I have a feeling it's not that easy.  Bodies of water can probably only be generated so large one way or another.  My main map is a large island surrounded by water, and I can't see land from any shore at maximum draw distance, but it's way too big to qualify as a "deserted" island.

Now that traveling large bodies of water is a lot easier, maybe you could just build an appropriate island?  Not that it wouldn't be a painstaking process for faked desolation.



I just generated a new world, my first with the new spawning system.  I dug my own mine to keep me occupied during the first night, and it was abundantly clear that right on the other side of my tunnel was a whole riot of baddies in a natural cave.  I spent half the night standing on my workshop brandishing a stone sword, waiting for what I knew was impossible - tunneling.  If Notch ever makes a mob that can tunnel on it's own, I might have to stop playing, because I won't be able to go underground.

I don't think that would even be possible, considering that a Minecraft world isn't flat.
Other way around.
The Minecraft world is flat, but the real world is not.
But... what if the Minecraft world IS the real world, and WE'RE the ones living in the...

The easy to make minecart boosters can't be made anymore. and the others that I've seen aren't worth it.
The easiest method still works:

Just remove the rail at the top of the blocks instead of the block itself.

C:\Users\[Usernamehere]\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\saves

Appdata is a hidden folder, so if you don't already have it showing them, you'll have to change that setting (Somewhere in control panel.)

I know it's unrealistic, but I can't help but imagine little bearded babies for dwarves. In my mind, they come out of the womb fully bearded. That's how the mother carries them around, too, she just drags them around by the beard or ties it to her belt. When the father's on duty, he just ties their beards together and the baby just kind of hangs there, swinging to and fro with Urist McDaddy's movements.

I really wish people would just trust me on this and type in %APPDATA%/.minecraft instead of asking for the full path every other page.

Not sure if anybody has noticed, but trees no longer automatically disappear when the trunk is missing.

Yeah, I noticed.  I think it's annoying because I don't like seeing reality defying tree boughs hanging in the air.  It's probably a bug related to the supposed secret-Friday tree change.  At least I hope it is.

 I assume the addition of the big trees did it, but more than likely snow has something to do with it.

Land-claim flags will be annoying. Nobody said anything about being unable to build stuff in the claim areas, only destroy it.

I'd like to see TnT do damage in claimed areas. It'd give it a high value, a purpose, and be difficult enough to obtain to deter griefers.

I'd also like to see SETTABLE SPAWN POINTS. THERE'S AN INFINITE WORLD OUT THERE THAT I CAN'T USE BECAUSE RE-FINDING AREAS SUCKS.

Settable spawns would be very helpful. Of course, there should be some limit on how often you can set it, or people will start using it as a quicksave or something. Then again, I guess those sorts of people should play on Peaceful. Maybe I should too... nothing like circumventing a tricky lavafall only to have a zombie sneak up behind you and knock you into it. >.> (In other news, one of the recent updates or something made it possible for me to play on snowy maps without crashes. Yay!) I like the TNT idea too. And if you're there when the guy sets it, you should be able to run in and deactivate it. And claim it for yourself, of course. ;)

It's definitely related to the revamped trees, though, I do hope it's sorted out as soon as possible. For now I have to burn down the leaves.

We are DF players. We know that boats don't exist.
 
I wonder if boats get moved by currents...
 
Look at how torches made a sensible way to make a place safe from monster spawns. I would like to see a similar system for player spawn points and maybe even fortress securty.
 
Maybe player spawns could be specially-built blocks that require some rare resource, or at least some time and effort, to make.
