Figured out what was causing my crashes. Turns out that uninstalling the OpenJDK I had before the Oracle stuff that Mojang recommends didn't fully uninstall it.

PvP TFC? Uh. No thanks. I'm totally all for PvE though. A communal neanderthal lifestyle would be fun.

I've been hypothesizing. But yeah, that would likely work better once they actually make the planned leap of moving all the 'supernatural' hostile mobs underground. And that's still a long way to go.

Speaking of neanderthal, another challenge would be NOT to settle down, instead having the entire community stay nomadic.

That'd be irritating if not everybody was on at once, though.

Yeah, I've actually been thinking of doing that in MC in general for a while. It would require a session kinda gameplay, instead of MC's usual persistence. But damn, I like that idea.

Eh. Nomadic lifestyles in Minecraft are kinda annoying, really. I don't like it.

...

Did you use the additional mod to fix performance they recommend? They make full use of the 256-height worldgen, and 1.7 light engine is... not the best optimized thing ever, so it is laggy.

But yeah, TFC is awesome, as far as mods go, it takes Minecraft into a far more handcraft/survivalism kinda deal, with a dash of DF-ish 'reality hates you'.
I've played TFC a lot before now. I almost have a blast furnace in my 1.6 world, which is why I wanted to carry it over.

At first, I foolishly assumed that my computer could handle some minor lagginess, but evidently not.

So, Windows 8.1 seems to make VBO mode crash the game on certain cards. Does anyone know a fix? I doubt it, since Google didn't reveal anything, but I thought it was worth checking.

The "by default" makes it look like you may be able to fix the problem via changing some option somewhere. (Probably via regedit)

I'd suggest looking into MS's support stuff if you can't get help via other means.

You should really look to the wilderness for your stealth ideas, it has been doing it much longer than you have after all. Take squids for example, that ink trick works pretty well, and in water too! So you just sneak into the dam upsteam, dump several megatons of distressed squid into it, then break the dam. Boom, you suddenly have enough water-proof stealth for a whole city!

Uhm. I might be able to get hosting for a server. Depends on the pricing, really.

Are you sure people care for decent connections? I'm sure enough people here played Shores of Hazeron to appreciate lag.
We'll see. I might try one on my own connection, but I really don't think it will fare too well. Also of note is that my computer isn't the greatest - I doubt it could handle running a server and allowing me to play on said server.

Hmm. What about a donation to help out?

Well, it's not like I can't afford it, I just get antsy when I feel like I'm spending too much.

Hmmm. I guess it depends on how much a month that one costs.
