We're trying to play now, actually. It's rare we can be free at the same time, so I'm getting frustrated that we've been trying for several hours and haven't found anything. : / Even a normal survival server would be fine at this point, but I don't know how to find one that isn't overloaded with people, with no space to build... I didn't realize this would be so complicated!

Does anyone know of a place that all the Life in the Woods crops are listed by biome? The wiki gives biomes for some of them, but not all, and if I plant one in the wrong biome, it won't grow for real-life hours...

Forestry's backpacks are very selective as to what you can put in them. Seeds from mods probably won't go in, because Sengir's a chump and doesn't use Ore Dictionary.
There might be a config option where you can whitelist some additional items? I can't really help much further, I'm afraid. I've never really used Forestry and the wiki is a crapshoot.

Go into appdata/.minecraft/config/forestry , edit backpacks.conf, add the ID numbers of the seeds to the relevant backpack.

I downloaded this pack through the technic launcher, just for convenience, but maybe it's out of date. I'll have to try getting it straight from Phedran's site and making my own folder for it, and moving the world there...

The Hungry version might have different config settings. Check the HarvestCraft configs and see if there's an option for it. I don't think it would be to do with mod versions or the Technic launcher.

The thing is, the "preferred biome" for plants only really matters in hungry mode. Why would that information not be easily obtainable? I'm confused...

I already looked through all the configs. Couldn't find anything helpful there at all. : ( For now, I just adjusted the growing times a bit so things don't take quite so long to grow, even if they're out of their preferred biome. Plants all still take much longer to grow than in the regular mode, but until I can figure out what biomes things need to be planted in, it doesn't make sense to punish myself for putting them in the wrong place.
