With combat so shitty already, I can't imagine insane mode being any better than hard or hardcore mode.

But yeah, my #1 requested feature for any future update is to improve the combat. Zombies and endermen need an attack animation, and there needs to be some reason to block in melee.

I thought those were called ghasts? Perhaps ghasts will spawn in the overworld in insane mode.

Notch did tease a screenshot of that at one point, actually. I don't think there are currently plans to release it, because that would be a stupid move.

I looked on the internets and didn't find anything about any "Insane Mode" that was an official Mojang thing.

Turn it up another few difficulty notches... Picture the overworld filled with ghasts that shoot spawners which make hordes of blazes that one-hit-kill you. Oh, and it's a huge sugarcane farm so you can't see anything coming.

well, I can remember a minepocalypse scenario I came up with.

ghasts that shoot creepers at you that explode on contact with anything, and one-shot kill you regardless. they see through walls, have 100% accuracy, and it's perma night, torches, jack-o-lanterns, glowstone and other light emmiting objects no longer emit light, all trees disappear, and render distance is permanently on tiny.

Trees don't disappear, they're just all replaced by Herobrine.
