Hope he adds flying monsters. And/or flying boats.

Because over the last few updates he has broken, fixed, changed, broken again, and fixed once again the map generator.

I'm pretty sure it's STILL not "perfect".
I agree that it is not perfect and that he will likely change it.

However, the statement that it was "added in as an intended feature a few updates ago" conveys the idea that it is intended to be the way it is right now and also that it has been this way for some time. Neither of which are true.

or maybe throw them into the large hadron collider to atom-smash them instead.
Not to mention to throw all available animals into tiny pits.

Because, well, they ARE intended.
They're probably just too common now.

We're still also missing naturally forming flowing water like rivers, waterfalls, etc, among other terrain features.

Aye, he's got natural water streams underground, and lava streams as well apparently. Just not on the surface yet.

Hopefully he'll get those nicer trees back soon, as well as normalizing the terrain again.

Actually I enjoy this type of terrain..

If it was all natural looking then I'd get pretty bored. Wouldn't really want to explore. I mean, this is just beautiful! Normal hills are nice too, but they stop being interesting almost immediately.

Perhaps he should add a "real" or "unreal" or "mixed" option, like somebody suggested earlier.

Not to mention the music, paintings, and flowers. But the caves' return supposedly brought back mushrooms. I haven't messed with it much yet, but it's cool to see new blocks being added regularly. There's also the "magic" system he had planned to add, I'm interested to see that work. It's supposed to be more like enchanting though, he's made it clear he doesn't want people throwing fireballs in Minecraft.

I prefer the crazy epic terrain. I wouldn't bother exploring anywhere if I knew I wouldn't find something that looked like a Yes album cover.

I love the wacky huge cliffs and hills, especially because as towering as they are, it's almost always possible to get somewhere.  So you have giant rolling hills, but also massive cliffs to build looming castles on.  I'm also glad to have the old trees back - the bigger ones were cool, but they need way more work, and the little ones just strike me as very Minecraft-style.

And now that I've had a chance to play with it, the new water mechanics are fantastic.  You can use one bucket to put water anywhere, and it makes kick-ass waterfalls, but it doesn't run forever and goes away after the spring is gone, so it's all controllable and safe.  Not to mention it looks cool and flows are fun.

Now I just wish monsters spawned underground, so there's a reason to be afraid again.  I went on the surface and a herd of spiders dropped right on top of me; I managed to hide in a corner and heal, and my full suit of iron armor saved my ass.  Then again, I forgot just how much I hate skeletons.  Arrows should be recoverable again.

I got my little cousin hooked earlier today.  :awesome:

Sadly I seem to have instilled in him my COMPLETE AND TOTAL COWARDICE as he fears the hell out of the dark.  It happened before I found out Infdev utterly nerfed monster spawn rates (I showed it to him first, and thus I had mentor him), though, so it's at least a little excusable, right?

He also fears the caves.  I urged him to jump down a short way down from a tunnel he was digging into one he'd hit, and he immediately got attacked by a skeleton archer and shot to 2 hearts before he killed it~

I think he's killed off some of the fear, though - I told him about bows, and now he's running around looking for the silk to make one.

Hmm.. are they not spawning at all now? I ran into a couple zombies and a skeleton during my time underground, were those just things that fell down from the surface at night?

Back in indev monsters and the dark were scary, as you always knew there was something waiting to chew your face off. infdev not so much. I'll be lucky if I open my door in the morning to find a single zombie there, and wandering at night has only netted me a few spiders a single skeleton and scattered lone zombies. I need to check my difficulty settings, because I never changed it from the default of normal and I know Minecraft usually spawns more than this.

And I must say that I love how caves have vertical shafts now. It makes going down a dozen levels very quick.

Better?  My computer decided to ask for me to shut it down for an update, I clicked yes before I thought to double check my post.

P.S. I think somebody bought a bay 12 copy sometime ago for everyone's use.  Last I checked Notch can't really prevent stuff like that from happening so he doesn't care as long as it doesn't get too out of hand.

Bahhhhhhh I hate my PC. Half the games I've bought worked on my old PC but don't work on this. (TF2, Minecraft etc).
Kinda sucks.
Espesh considering this PC is technically newer/better
