The 1.0 technic pack has been ready for SSP for a while, just SMP will be 'later, probably not until after Christmas.'

I do like the Table II, even with the bugs. It is more convenient for making lots of different items. I wish I knew what version was included with Technic so I could know whether maybe those bugs have already been fixed, but it looks like the next update won't be until the first anyway.

Got myself a small sugar farm to make (for now) coal via EE - partly to teach myself about BC pipes, partly to get a diamond farm going. Is there anything more convenient than sugarcane for that purpose? It seems to grow pretty fast but I don't know how it compares with, for example, wheat (when making use of minefactory to auto-plant seeds and sending wheat for EE). Also have basic energy production going, more than enough at least for my current IC machine needs.

Not sure what to do next. Get start making lava buckets to power IC miners? Set up a Redpower quarry? Animal farm for pegasus? Expand IC machines to start producing the advanced IC gear? Guess I'll just flip a quantum coin.

Cactus farms are fully automatic and get you TONS of wood via EE (2 pieces per wood).

I prefer using heavy duty sugar cane farms. I bring in about 700 sugar cane per button press. And it grows back fully overnight.

This.
Even without EE, I get loads of biofuel with this.

I'm actually trying a slightly different approach, using trees. MineFactory's planter plants whatever you give it onto the 3x3 dirt blocks above it, and its harvester will automatically trim trees before chopping them down (it sends anything it picks up through out/through pipes). It's probably not as fast as sugarcane to grow, but you get 'higher value' results and it is equally as hands off. That said, getting a quarry going would certainly be a lot more valuable.

My only issue at this point is how to split the saplings. I have them all going to my planters right now but my planters definitely do not need 100% of the saplings that the farm produces. Is there some way to send only a few saplings through? Hmm, I guess I could use a distribution pipe and have every third or fourth sapling go to the planters (which are then evenly distributed between each planter). Hmm, what about diamond pipes? What happens if you have the same item on multiple lines, or multiple on one line an singular on another? Will it automatically know to send, e.g. 2 saplings to yellow, then the third to white, if I put two saplings in yellow and one on white? Or does it just pick randomly and there is no way to control preference/weight?

Edit: Meh, looks like diamond pipes just read from top-down; all my saplings are going to black (to my planters) even though I put a sapling in yellow as well.

Edit2: Huh, looks like distribution pipes have an unfinished rudimentary UI that may do exactly that: define number of items to pass through an output, even preventing items from going out a particular way (as opposed to currently where it cycles through all possible outputs, including the original input). But with no colors in the UI, there's no way of knowing which indicators control which outputs except through trial and error - assuming it is even functional and it's just the UI that's incomplete.

The pipe has colors, the UI does not; will upload a screenshot. The technic wiki on buildcraft doesn't even mention that there is a UI for distribution pipes, so I figured it was just unfinished.

Spoiler: Distribution Pipe UI (click to show/hide)

In other news, the marketing genius that thought up marrying ads to a bot-check needs to be shot.

Seems your shit be borked.

By which I mean the interface background together with the colours appears to have moved to the top left if I am looking at it right.

I presume the wiki is just outdated. The non-1.0 technic wasnt updated and was left with the old shitty distribution pipes for a while. Had to manually update them myself, which also happened to screw up TMI.

Computercraft is the best mod ever. Where else can you play a text based minecraft while coding with lua at the same time?

The background panel sure has, but I don't know where you're seeing colors in that grey square. Only colors I see are on the pipe itself, faded but visible in the center of the screen. Unless your familiarity with what it should look like tells you that the colors are part of that square, but because of the repositioning the colors are actually off the side of the screen.

Thaumcraft is sheer awesomeness.  I managed to spill liquid magic all over the floor. Some of it turned into tiny slimes that began to eat the rest of my magic stuff and grow in size, other puddles just ate straight down through the floor.  The runes are useful and have this neat special effect singularity thingy, the same one when the enderdragon dies but smaller.  It looks perfectly unreal.

The best bit so far is the portable hole though. Just slap it onto a wall and it'll disappear temporarily, the hole looking as unreal as it should be. After a while it just poofs back. (Chests and other containers lose their items though)  You can also use it to probe for hidden caves, since the hole can go quite 'deep' into a wall.

The runes combine perfectly with Redpower machinery, although it is very dangerous to try and automate the magic generator thingy. Too much magic and you'll have slimes eating the rest and puddles doing really odd stuff.  I still haven't figured out what the obelisks do, I think they just make more magic or something.

People have been asking about the mod pack I put together before. I have worked on it a bit and while not all of the mods have updated, I have some of them working together again.

Here is the first pass at a new mod pack.

It includes the following mods, all working as far as I could tell:

Somnia V17
Rei's Minimap v2.9
Buildcraft v2.2.10
Equivalent Exchange v5.7.3
Industrial Craft 2 v1.43
Redpower v2.0 pr4 (Including Redworld)
ThaumCraft v1.1.1
Too Many Items

(support mods like forge not listed, but they are there and this collection wouldn't be possible without them.)

A few notes:

1. This is the first pass, and I have -not- done extensive testing
2. I am not obliged to offer support of any kind. The mod pack contains simple instructions which, as far as I can tell, result in a working modded minecraft.
3. This is for Minecraft v1.0.0 - It likely will not work with beta versions and may or may not work after updates.
4. If you have trouble, send me a PM. Don't clutter this thread up with support requests. I may or may not get back to you. Probably I will, but in my own time. I'm fairly busy IRL and just spent 3 hours of my life working on this for your benefit.
5. If there is a mod you'd like to see included, let me know. If it can be included, I'll do so next time. If it can't be, I will tell you.
6. Have fun!

Edit: Also... if it works for you please let me know that too.
Edit2: After some initial testing it seems IC2 is crashing the thing. Will have to look into that but for now I've removed it.
Edit3: Hm, no something else is causing it. It will run for a while and then crash for no apparent reason. Well its nearly midnight so I'm stopping for now. If you want to try it, you've been warned!
Edit The Fourth: Hah! Had an idea and came back to try. Looks like its all working now. File is updated in case anyone downloaded it before now.
