If you need to extract a .7z file, you use 7zip. Why do you need to use something else?

WinRAR, maybe possibly. Haven't actually tried to open it with anything else not 7zip.

I'm fairly certain winRAR will work, as I've unzipped 7z's before but I don't think I have 7zip installed.

Yeah, lets just say I can't get winRAR either, but anyway, I have some other, more important problem.

On my other computer, I want to get TooManyItems, so I install Modloader, delete the META-INF, and then install TooManyItems. And the second I start up Minecraft, it flips the fuck out and crashes. What the fuck is happening?

Try running MC in between all the steps you do (so, delete META-INF, try running, install modloader, try running etc) and see exactly when it starts crashing, so you know exactly where the problem is.

Most of the mods from the Minecraft modding forum are RAR'ed up. You'll need to unpack them before installing.

And if that isn't working, try deleting the whole folder containing META-INF, and putting all of TMI (excluding the folders, if there are any.) inside minecraft.jar.

IIRC, TMI doesn't need modloader to function if you just want to add the basic inventory editing features, but I think it's required for the weather altering features and day/night cyclers.

Yeah I'd like to know what kind of issue you're having that you can't install a basic application but you can install and run minecraft...

7-zip has a portable version, if you're concerned about not being able to install things. Just delete it when you're done.
