Okay, I think we just built the most epic dining room ever.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Yes!, it's made out of gold islands with tables and chairs on them and the islands are connected with glass bridges.
But that's not all, look up!
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
There's water on top of it. It's extremely unsafe, but extremely dwarven.

If you go up the stairs you see in the first pic, you get to this:

There's another glass floor on top of the water and we (maseck and me) thought that we could built a statue garden here. This would also be the place to put your beloved sprites if you want to build some.

Edit: Also, well done!

That box block down there in the water is supposed to be the bucket.

Some more screenshots...  These were pre-finalization.

The idea came from a fortress I was making.  I had wanted stone tiles to engrave and it to be "outside" to prevent cave adaption.  Unfortunately, there were many layers of soil in my way.  Epic ideas formed about how to use the upper levels.  Notably, the magma was not included.

This is the first multiplayer minecraft server I've took part in. I helped dig the chasm and the dinning hall but things are looking fantastic since I was last on.

I thought we needed an engraving of a hammerer.

as a general complain, the teamwork on this map is miserable.

it's not a community fortress, it's one fortress, 2-3 private fortresses, and a dozen single projects that are in no way connected to the main fortress

we need a lot more hallways

The community fortress thing fell apart a little due to a lack of planning.

Not planning of the layout, but of general building rules.. like, how big are workshops, or hallways.. or beds.. or.. anything. ;D

I started my own fortress after a little while cause the 3x3 hallway style turns me off.. I like something more stylized.

I think it would be more fun to build a good looking fortress than it would be to try to stick to actual DF rules and shapes. I mean, if we go for true-to-DF scale, then a 2x2x2 cube would equal 1 DF tile, with a layer above and below for the floors. But that wouldn't look very good IMO... allthough that would probably look better than what we did.

I gotta say though, that underground river is the best part so far, I like it better than the things I made myself. :D

Where is it? More importantly, is there a guide to the place?

Actually, most of it is connected. It's just chaotic and hard to find your way around it (Just like a  regular dwarven fortress). I'll be working on connecting the main fortress to the Dwarven Rapture which is connected to a very unused corner of the map with a ship.
The teamwork isn't really "miserable". Okay, there is one private fortress and Dwarven Rapture and the giant golden... thing are currently single projects unconnected to the main fortress and the temple to Armok needs a connection to the fortress, too, but that's all not hard to do.
I think that's the right approach. Don't ask yourself "Where can I build?", but "Where do I want to build?" and later add the hallways to it.
You're acting like we already said "Okay, this fortress is finished!". It isn't. We're working on it and if a project is currently unconnected to the main fortress doesn't mean that it will stay that way.

that's funny, when we finished it, I had the impression that Poltifar and I had build the underground river and not you
