Minecraft server RAM usage bloats so stupidly much over time if you don't restart.

The server I used to frequent had a script that restarted it automatically every 30 minutes. A bit annoying when in the middle of something, but at least it kept the lag and errors away.

I haven't restarted Alkyon's server since I started hosting it, the server was eating 1.3 gigs of RAM with no one in it. I finally restarted, and now it's below 170 megs empty.

I think the game hates me, because apparently killing me is worth a zillion points of exp.

Don't worry Darvi, the game does not hate you. Its not sentient(yet) so doesn't have such emotions. Now Notch on the other hand...

My friend and I are under the impression that mob code has been changed... severely for the worse.  We used to be able to venture into caves and as long as we lit things up and killed the mobs we ran across we were half safe.  Now?  We could place a torch every 5 steps and we'd still have 2-3 creepers spawning as we turn around.  It's not quite that excessive, but there is definitely an increase in "turn your back" spawns.

Yeah.  I thought I was safe when I went to mine some iron that was sitting right next to some lava...

I didn't bother trying to find my old stuff.  I heard a lot of sizzling when I fell in.

This is insane.
I think instead of randomized patterns they should have some coherent form of where they place the blocks. How strange would it be to come back and find your house moved a couple blocks over, or turned into a weird pyramid-shaped thing.

I haven't noticed anything like this, I place torches just like I allways do and never have any problems in lit up caves or my mine.

That would be cool. Freaky, but cool.

Centration. Similar to Spacestation 13, but in 3D and first-person. Sounds damn awesome.

There is speculation about "passive" spawn changes so I wouldn't be surprised if the "aggressive" mobs were touched as well (or there's a bug of some type...)  All I know is that we've been getting "jumped" a LOT more recently and not much has changed in our routines.
