Oh god, Smooth Stone Bricks looks so nice. I am loving it.

Out of curiosity, has anyone made a Creative-to-Survival and vise-versa mod yet?

Would this be of any relevance to you?
I gather from a quick read that you have to go to his video for the download link.
I LOVE IT! :D

Made myself my own house in an NPC village in creative mode with a Nether portal under it (look under rug), and a couple netherrack torches atop the house and lightstone chandeliers to light up the inside. Still relatively small compared to other houses I would make, but it fits within the town and looks rather nice for the little time I spent on it.

Plus, now I have a place to crash in a map now.

Survival Mode is fun and all, but sometimes I want to have fun being creative in, well, creative mode. But sometimes I want to fall back into survival. I love this little find. Maybe I can finally get around to doing some past projects I promised before. Or at least try a few tricks out and design ships and such again.

EDIT:
Built myself one of the bombers or munitions bunkers I've been meaning to work on for an adventure map, and as it turns out, some of the elements work out quite well (lets say, an explosive way of reaching the under-tunnels of a military base). If we ever have a community sandbox server, be wary of any ships I build with switches. I say not to flip the switch, don't flip the switch. Unless you have something or someone you want to bomb. To be safe, I would be fortifying the area with adminite anyhow.

Just used Frumple as a seed. Started off somewhere seemingly quite interesting -- very vertical, basically a mountain or plateau rising right out of the sea. With more mountains/plateaus on that mountain/plateau.

Not very many trees, though. I've only found one so far, heh...

I've noticed that mountain biomes tend to have few trees in general, actually.

Any seeds with a stronghold close to spawn point?

I'm not sure but I vaguely remember someone pointing out that the strongholds spawn at a minimum distance of 500 (god knows what, minecraft squares?) away from spawn in each direction.  :-\

Quick search of the thread suggestions it hasn't been mentioned in the past (or I missed it in the search results), but...

... with the apparently incredible increase in the amount of water generally laying around, has anyone seen a mod that makes water completely translucent, or at least considerably more bright when you're under it? I'd like to be able to see when I'm underwater :-\

The second link has the link to clear waters mod, but the mod site itself has a warning. Which I find strange because the guys in the video linked it and they are well known youtubers with many subscribers, so i suspect it's either false or got hacked.

More than that, the place the crystal clear waters mod (which is pretty much exactly what I want, bleeeh) is hosted has apparently voluntarily shut itself down while trying to figure out why it's got that warning up. So there's no way to actually get the mod right now, apparently.

Which I guess means wait until it comes back up... unless someone has a different link for the mod, hmm...

Well, you could message the maker of the video and ask if they can send you a copy of the mod through email if your that desperate.

The new glass/bars make me want fences to not take up the entire width of a block.

Also, 1.8 is officially out, go update and stuff.

Typing in "Silverfish" as the seed gives you a massive taiga. From a tiny bit of scouting, I've also found some pumpkins close by to the spawn.

Urrrrrg and I just downloaded aether thinking it would take a while.

what would be the best way to switch between aether 1.7.3 and 1.8? I would like to make 2 different .minecraft's but you can't rename a folder as beginning with ".". I was wondering is having one on my desktop would cause any trouble.

I just made a copy of my .minecraft folder when the pre-release came out.  It just sits there below the regular .minecraft folder waiting until I want to play 1.7.3 again. Poor thing.

Whoa, the seed "mushy mushy shroom" has a dark cave thingy inside one of the mountains.
Monster spawner and chest included. Two chests.
