I'm also very pleased by the amount of clay in Twilight Sparkle.
On that note, Sonic Rainboom gives me a somewhat large desert with several exposed lava pools.
I have a couple mods in my main copy, so YMMV, but...

1.8 is probably out this week.
Sadly, that post actually says the DATE of 1.8 will be released this week.
That is to say, They will be announcing when it will be released soon..

To depress you further, i think they said they were pushing some of the features back to 1.9

As it turns out...

For seeds, I play the seed "Archespore" a hell of a lot. Its mostly likely one of the most awsome seeds in the game.

Just saw the 1.8 trailer, not to mention the recent update log.  I now feel like getting on my knees and begging to Notch for forgiveness for my lack of faith.

Adding Villages without NPCs? What's the point in that?

To alleviate some of the whining directed at Mojang for not updating more often.  Now we get to go back to people whining at them for not doing enough and not releasing major content changes for a while.

So my crundles are staying intact unless they're newly spawned... until they are exposed to anything that isn't at room temperature.  This mostly seems to mean blood, specifically, their own.  Then they go poof very quickly.

But now it's a completely pointless feature, oh look there's a village. Cool.

If the villages really bug you, there's going to be an option for them on or off. So really, I see no point NOT giving the option, since the "village biome" is already coded.

Really? I didn't see much in the trailer to be excited about. Honestly it was a pretty poorly done trailer.

But what's the point of a village with nothing there?! This is my point.

We have ruins, there is no need for villages. I think they just ran out of time for NPCs and had already announced villages.

The point of a village? It's a number of structures which you can adore in your virtual environment.

That isn't the intention though is it? You'd expect something like that to be functional, if I wanted to look at an empty village I'd make one myself..
