And yet...  Where exactly would I get the Modloader or any of the other innumerable prerequisites that are not on there?

EDIT: It's a good thing I remembered about MCModCenter
EDIT2: ModloaderMP isn't on there, and I can't find a mirror.  No IndustrialCraft for me :/
EDIT3: Nor GUIAPI for Nandonalt's mods/etc.
Bluh.

The MC community really need a better mod hub than their forums. I hope the Yogscast mod host project works out, where they'll be setting up adsense ads to run along with the mod info and download screens to pay the modders

YOG compilation pack is the new NOW (same 'director'/chief modder) and is looking awesome, they got proper permission from the creators this time and it's shaping up nice!

Wow, Lewis is kind of a dick.  I've seen trolling and anger, but he literally just told someone (plasticcraft's creator to be exact) "Get out".  And nothing else.  Also, seeing as how this is burning everywhere else on the internet, we should probably not start this argument here as well.  This forum seems more mature in general, but still.

Well, you can try out Planehacked (PTTG's server) to start off with.  There's also a variety of mods you can try out, if you feel bored of vanilla minecraft.

Go to the Planehacked thread. In the OP, in addition to the rules (please actually read them!) is an email address. It's written in the form @x, y (it's properly y@x, but this is to dissuade spambots). Send this an email asking to get on with your bay12 name, MC name, and what you like about DF (think of it as a captcha).

Upon requesting, you'll automatically be added to the open world server. This is currently running a gold rush; competitive PvP, no holds barred race to get the most gold bars in a week.

In addition, we also have the project server, where we are building a sort of victorian steampunky sort of town. It's entry requires evidence of architectural ability; build something nice (Nice doesn't have to mean big; indeed, we can learn a lot more about your eye for detail from how you build a house then how you build a 500x500 block pyramid) and send a photo!
