[Heavily Modded] Can't Embark anymore

I have modded the game to a point where the game no longer works.

No matter what I do, I embark somewhere, anywhere, and the game freezes, and doesn't close. I've tried using a fresh install ten times and it still won't go away.

also, there are a bunch of "Shadows" of things that I have taken out completely from the text files, and they still exist even when I gen a new world. Such things as Leerok's Adventurise tool, which I have gotten rid of every single trace of it, and it still says "Dog: Play Now!". Is there a way to get rid of this?

Are you actually installing from scratch, or are you installing over a previous installation or moving your files over?

I have an unused backup of vanilla DF, and I make a copy of that and move the text files into that. I gather that's what's wrong.

Yes, you should first determine if a truly vanilla copy (i.e., with no text files moved over) runs, which it should.  If it does, then yeah, the problem is probably somewhere in your raws.  I guess you could post the entity/creature raws for a civ you're trying to embark with, but if it's as messed up as you make it sound, your mods might be hard to salvage.

Forget it, I'm just going to have to try to create a new modded version without using the corrupted files. It's going to be hard though, because I have no backups for the files I create myself.
