Making things square
« on: May 14, 2009, 08:44:36 pm »

Is there a way to square all the tiles without using another tileset?

That is, I'd like all the tiles to be square, but still use the ASCII style graphics. Possible?

Also, do large numbers of engravings cause FPS drops?

So there's no actual way of doing it without importing a tileset?

... Never mind. Found the answer.

Also, reiteration: Do engravings slow down the fort?

Many of the tilesets still maintain the characters-only feel, no graphics.

Also, the game comes with a square version of the character-only tiles.  It's "curses_square_16x16.bmp".  Just change the relevant lines in init.txt, and change your X and Y values (for windowed or fullscreen, whichever you use) so that they are exactly the grid size multiplied by the tile width/height.

There is, but it will make your characters look very ugly.  You could either point your init to the square font that comes with your df installation (curses_square_16x16) or download one of the ones off the site.

There are instructions of how to set that up on the site.

Engravings won't slow down the game (not noticeably for me atleast).
Cats however.... Oh, the horror...
