Losing an eye
« on: May 14, 2009, 02:04:19 pm »

So I just lost an eye to an incredibly lucky wolf attack. Is this gonna be a major problem later? Or am I pretty good as long as I still have both eyes?

You will occasionally pass out due to pain if you don't have particularly high stats (mostly toughness). If you lose the other eye you will notice that your field of vision is noticeably reduced (you will only be able to see adjacent tiles).

Nope, you can see just as will with 1 out of 50 eyes, though you only get arms reach sight when they are both gone (just like a human in a cave) unless you have extravision, which doesn't rely on body parts.

I thought wounds magically healed when you travelled. Are eyes immune to this?

If it's chopped off, it's gone forever.  Or at least until we get chainsaw arms.

"Loosing an eye"

Rockets from the sockets!  Oh wait, he lost an eye, didn't set one loose.

Yeah, from my experience it's only a problem if you have a whimpy character.  Or if you lose both.

My character had close to starting stats with legendary throwing, a bit of swimming and ambushing, and after losing an eye, he was fine.  Sure, he bled a bit, but he seemed to be good afterwards.  His throwing accuracy seemed a bit dented though.

I want to be an Adrianne Barbeaubot, with big chainsaw hands.  Bzzzzzzzzz!!!

Losing one eye is nothing.  Two is a bit of a problem most of the time.  As for losing limbs, well.  If you survive the fight, you can always keep that arm.  Makes a nice club.

And yes Cow, yes!  The pain should STOP eventually!  That needs fixed, all too often I go into some place, and suddenly 15 objects are dropped and a number of people fall down screaming.  Looking up their history, they'd lost the limbs decades before.  You're think they'd stop crying about it and living in denial.

Look, it's free loot. Don't complain, just take the stuff. It's especially helpful when you 'Play Now!' an adventurer and start out with nothing.
