Planning the fortress
« on: May 13, 2009, 06:06:41 pm »

Okay, so I've embarked on a fairly nice map and I've got a small fort set up that will support seven dwarves for a while. But I need to plan the next stage of the fort. Is there a tool where I can export the map so I can look at it for a while outside of the game?

Escape -> export local image is probably what you want.

There's also a handful of 3D fort viewers, if that's what you're looking for.

Here's one of them:

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

I use 3Dwarf for getting 'the lay of the land' and the SL Map Viewer DF Map Compressor to easily browse the exported local images.
