Let me start by saying I have nothing planned for this, have no idea if this will ever take off, or even how to start this. I don't even have Toady's permission to do this.

The idea I've had goes something like this:
1. I like this game.
2. Wouldn't it be great if there were shirts and stuff for it?
3. It would be even better if it made money for Toady!
4. Hang on, didn't Toady say that he didn't want to deal with store managment?
5. What if we run it? Aren't we talented enough?

Of course, this is where the problem comes in. I can neither come up with good shirt art, nor have I done something like this before. We need the following for this to happen:

-Permission from the Great Toad
-Idea's for T-shirts (Some of the stuff we say should help, I think a "Powered by imagination tech" shirt will be cool)
-A manufacturer
-A website
-A means of distribution
-Set prices for T-shirts
-How much of the profit is payed to Toady One in royalties
-money

I'll be free to manage the store, as I'm taking a gap year before college, and why not give some of the fans a cut for their contributions?

Again, just throwing the idea out there for now. I don't expect this to happen, but who knows what tommorow holds.

Don't take any action (as far as actually making a store) without permission from Toady. Otherwise you'll get crucified by the fanbase, and rightfully so.

That said, frankly I don't think the time's right just yet for a Bay12 store. There wouldn't be enough demand to do large runs of items for the bulk discounts, which means going with a one-off solution. Those tend to be a) more expensive, and b) poorer quality.

I was more worried about the legal issues. Also, DF has quite a fanbase, with every version getting a few thousand, if not a ten thousand downloads. The store doesn't have to have a large selection, and it can be used to advertise the game itself if we add "www.bay12games.com" to the back of the shirts.

The best part of it is that it doesn't cost Toady a cent.

We've discussed it before, a big problem is that Toady doesn't want the headaches for it.

I'd sort of like a set of rubrics for t-shirts (all which would have Bay12games.com on them) that people could get printed at there local silkscreen shop.

This all turned into a big shitstorm the last time somebody brought it up, for every obvious reason.  Let that be a lesson to anyone who wasn't there last time.

And so I don't sound like a total stick in the mud, if somebody was selling a mug with a picture of a mug engraved in it, I'd buy it immediately.
