I used to take captain in case an asshole who plays by his own special rules gets it.

Let's make something clear. Head of personnel is ABOVE the head of security by about one ladder rung. The HoP is second in command effectively. Here's the head hierarchy:

Captain -> HoP -> HoS -> HoM -> HoR -> Barman

im assuming the AI is above the HoP untill the captain dies, and then is moved one rung down to accomodate the new orders person.

thats how ive always figured it.

incidentally, how many others here LIKE playing AI, its my favourite class/profession/thing.
