Right. I am finally here. I've read all the backlog of roughly 30 pages created between my muting and unmuting.

I think I am up to speed.

Now then. I promise to not ban instantly but instead maze people and such.

Thank you, Yanlin.
Still, I respect your harcore-RP ideology.

Ah, perfect, thank you very much Yanlin, now my feelings of dread have past.  ;D

You know, I've never RP'ed before, ever. It seems like a lot of fun.

Its better when you have one character, and you play that same one, over a period of time. In SS13, you die/leave every round, so you can't bring the experiences with your character, sadly.

Speaking of which, anyone else know any good RP-Enforced games?

90% of the people on the banlist will be removed.
You... You're kidding, right?

I'm considering not logging into the B12 server for about a week or two. I have no wish to spend all my gaming time banning griefers (which atleast 50% of the ones you unbanned were, and when I say griefer, I mean server-bombing-level griefers).

EDIT: Especially now that we're losing more and more admins. Phob was a good admin, although he was ban-happy. Hey, even Yanlin is ban-happy, but he's still an acceptable admin (other than his annoying tendencies to change people's names like when he changed my name to Elf yesterday).

Dungeons and Dragons.

Don't we have someone running DnD games on the B12 forums? I remember a thread about those. The players of SS13 that enjoy RP should try playing some, very fun indeed.

That thread kind of died.

Also, I tried to change your name back but I forgot what it was. So I got as close as I could. Alan Nutmeg. But the game started before I pressed the button...

Well, Ill be sorry to see you gone, Politfar, but I understand.

And about the other topic..I've never actually played DnD before. I don't know the rules, either, or pretty much..anything. I have played all of NWN, though, if that means anything. ;D

And, on a different, off-topic topic, why do those damn horror shows have to be so interesting? I already have a hard time sleeping and now I have to think about robed figures ripping the eyes out of children. (EI, Me. :P)

I'm a very dedicated roleplayer, since it is my favourite passtime and thing to do in games. I've administrated many a server for not only SS13, but a few RPI Muds and so on. I don't expect for that reason everything I say to be taken as straight fact, but maybe it'd give my opinion a little weight.

I was once told that you cannot administrate and play a game at the same time. I still believe this to be true, for more than one reason.
The rule of metagaming, in which one cannot use information obtained OOC in IC actions is a rule that almost every Roleplayer knows. It is essential to making Roleplaying work, since you are not your character, and your character is not you. But at one point or another, and I'm almost certain every person is here is guilty of it, me included, that at some point they have 'bent' the rules to make sure a situation ends in their favour. Usually, this is done by using information that you have obtained through OOC means to guide your IC actions. The amount of information an administrator has access to is mind blowing. You can fly around, watch people without them knowing, create items and even give yourself god mode. The temptations that this brings is an obvious first clue as to why it is a bad idea to join in the Roleplay with other regular players who don't have access to your powers. In my opinion, you are either an admin, monitoring player activity and helping to make the gaming experience as good as possible, or you are a player, playing the game to the best of your ability.

On that note, if you need another admin on your servers, I'm here :3

Yeah, I agree with that. Using admin powers to cheat in various ways is always very tempting. Also, some don't even bother NOT to use them (*looks at Woose*)

Personally, I'd prefer by far to be a player than being an admin. But in a game like SS13, there is so much griefing that all the admins we can get are never enough, and we certainly cant make all our admins just watch without playing. Afterall, we're all playing in our free, leisure time. Nobody wants to come home from school or work to sit down on the computer and spend 6 hours doing nothing but moderating and kicking idiots.

So, the dilemma is, we need ALOT of admins, yet no one wants to watch without playing. Thus, we end up with having to play while being admin. But that's not to say its an entirely bad thing, just look how well we have been doing. Also, being a player and an admin at the same time can be much more helpful in some cases. Many times, me or another admin have been griefed/have witnessed a griefer griefing, and were able to ban much faster than a non-player admin might have. And every second counts when banning griefers. (which reminds me, we need a right-click-ban command, like the drop everything command. Floirt, get ta work on one!)

As for being admin, ask Johb, he's our host.

It is possible to RP and Admin at the same time, especially on a low grief server like Johbson's. Just remember that in certain game modes, griefing and playing smart can seem like the same thing at the moment. Phoebos almost banned me in nuclear mode for dressing in station clothes and a bio suit, and sneak attacking him while talking to him with a voice changer. PM the person first. Its not that essential to immediately ban a person, at worst kicking him would do it. The character remains on the field, and you can disable them before they relog.

Which just gave me an idea. A right click command to handcuff and shackle a character. Kick and shackle would work well to discourage griefers.

Ustxu Iceraped the Frigid Crystal of Slaughter was a glacier titan. It was the only one of its kind. A gigantic feathered carp composed of crystal glass. It has five mouths full of treacherous teeth, enormous clear wings, and ferocious blue eyes. Beware its icy breath! Ustxu was associated with oceans, glaciers, boats, and murder.
