Why should it not be in this thread? This is a forum which is for talking, and this is a topic about talking about the game.

It is impossible for me to moderate multiplayer drama, as I have no access to the pertinent information, so I'm not interested in seeing these pointless, moderator-report-generating arguments permeate an otherwise reasonable game thread.  Moreover, the OP has requested that you move the discussion out of his/her thread, and I think it's a reasonable request since the repeated complaints are tangential to the discussion of the game.  It would be better if Broose added a guideline to the first post, but I don't know if there'd be much of a point with the thread so long.

You've been warned for your subsequent post.  It seems your question above wasn't asked to be answered and that you're insisting on flouting moderation.

I was warned for? I was stating that it shouldn't be advertised as a Bay12 server if people at Bay12 are going to be banned without a reason.

Dude, honestly, he banned you because he thought you were acting stupid. It is easy to ruin fun in that game when you are acting stupid. If Toady has a problem with us naming it a B12 server, he will tell us and we will change it.

Broose, i know what he's talking about, and it wasnt because he was acting stupid. maybe because because the admins were being stupid, but most likely not him.

and Marine, seriously stop. just wait for another server to open. i believe andrea is making one?

We have a new rule on our server. We reserve the right to ban idiots as we please.
This rule scares me a bit, at the very least put "excessive stupidity" in the reason box. Also, does the game track who banned who or does it provide a ban list only? It would help if we got a list of who banned who and for what so that we know moderators are doing their job and are not turning ban happy.

It's possible, if we add another Z-level.  Right now, the escape shuttle etc. works by moving all the tiles in the "escape shuttle" zone from one Z-level to another--I think they have to be "on top" of each other though, IE in the same X-Y coordinates, different Z.  You could open up more station by keeping new station parts in a new Z-level, and 'porting them over at the start of the game when the admin says so, or something.

I'd say that if shuttles can move in the Z axis, they can be made to move in the X and Y axii too. AFAIK, they move on the Z axis simply by changing the coordinates of all the tiles to current_z - 1 or something similar, so moving them on the X and Y would also just be a matter of current_x = current_x + 15 or something.

Nah, it's not simple like that.  "Another Z-level" really means "another map" for all intents and purposes.  And consider:  It's very easy to move something down one Z-level, because everything is only one Z-level high.  There's no overlap when you move.  If you want to move something south one Y-coordinate, then it's going to overlap with itself, and the coding becomes more complicated.  Sure, you can deal with it just fine if you do it in the right order, but it's not entirely trivial.

Ah, I didn't consider the overlap problem. Maybe have an array or somesuch that stores all the objects and tiles that are to be moved in order, removes them from the map, and then puts them back in the correct order at the required distance?

You could.  But I think that moving lots of stuff causes significant lag in BYOND, which is part of why it happens so rarely.  What do you have in mind?  A ship that actually comes in and docks?

What should happen if, say, its hull is going to end up flush with the station, but you're in the way?  There's all KINDS of degenerate cases here.  Moving stuff should be a rare event.

Err, no, that's not what I had in mind. I just wanted a way to have station parts and/or shuttles not HAVE to be just above the Z-location were it appears.

But you know what, your moving-ship idea seems WAY better. We've gotta try this some day :P

EDIT: I'm gona look at the code for the shuttles right now to see how they work exactly.

There is a list, so we can see who people were banned by, and for what. And I think I will change that rule a little, make it sound a little less horrible.  ;D

Clarification: For all intents and purposes, Z-Levels are different regions of space. You CAN move through Z-Levels by flying into borders, but that takes you to a random Z-Level between 3 and 5. And you can't come back, unless you stumble on a teleporter. Didn't I already say this?

And of course, you can't get to CentCom by flying due to weird puzzle shit.

Anyways, no updates today. I was too busy failing my life in The Sims 3.

I can't wait for the next expansion on that game, I wasn't feeling like I was ripped off enough just yet. ;D

Bringing the server up as soon as I finish brushing my teeth.

Guys, what do you think if we opened a website in google codes under the B12 SS13 project?
Then put a RVS there... We'll be able to host multiple servers at a time! (The banlist needs to be updated after each game, so it then uploaded to the site for the other hosts to be able to ban the offenders without much hassles! Also, easy to make stuffs <- and easy to be broken FUN!!

Err, for some reason, the BYOND hub is displaying that Yanlin is hosting the server. Is that a bug, or is he really hosting it?
