The Blacklist:

We give all players the benifit of doubt, a player who has been banned may ask to be unbanned. If anyone agrees or opposes, they talk up and provide a reason for their stance. The player is then unbanned a week from the day of his request, unless enough oppose. Unless the player is found to be unjustly banned (beyond reasonable doubt), then this is his/her last chance to prove they can be mature players.

Failure to comply leads to their name added to the blacklist, from which they will not be removed.

Following on the proposed idea of only letting people who post on this forum play, there is a GREAT way to do so: THE GOONS ALREADY IMPLEMENTED SUCH CODES THEMSELVES!

I'm not sure its in the version you use, but they had a system in which only people from a certain list of names was able to log into the game, and that list was made from a list of people who joined and posted on their forums that they wanted to play. Just rework the thing, and there ya go!

Damn. Seriosusly, I've thought about this hundred times over this week. I know I messed up, and I should be perma-banned, but as a normal player, I won't grief ever. I know this was the worst thing ever. I'm not ever doing it again. I should have known I was not for adminship, what with my over-reaction.

Just unban me. Just that. I want to play, dammit. And you all know I'm a good player, in game. I never should have done that, but it has been done! No need to go over this again, as long as I can't do it again. That is all. I'm just asking for a last chance.

Well...I've got a basic understanding of the source code now, enough to tell what's going on in most places of the code at least.  And I've got a good understanding of how the maps work.  Theoretically I could start poking at things now.

Are there any simple mods we want?  No promises, but aside from very slowly prodding at a Mining Station 12 map, I'm wondering what I should start on... new game modes are still way outside my expertise.  (Heck, I can't even get the SVN version to recognize me as an admin when I put my account name in the admin list.)

I know what this game does to people, I know it makes people crazy and regret alot of things. Floirt, I'm willing to give you another chance, because I think everyone deserves at least two.  So welcome back, hopefully for more then few days.

For the admin list thing, your name needs to be lowercase. I can send you the version we're currently using, if you want?

Hrmm.  I tried the lowercase-name thing in the file.  My main account is TravellerC, so I put "travellerc - host" in there (following the format of other entries).  It gave me some server messages but adminwho said no admins online, I couldn't touch admin commands, etc.  I also had an issue where it always asked me for permission before opening each and every file it touched, which will be a problem when it needs to read/write lots of player files.  How do you disable that?

I'm working from the Goonstation SVN version, but a copy of what you use would be pretty neat.  Email address is sowelu at gmail dot com.
