All right, next time we set up a server, we must make a private one.

Or put admins before playing :/

So... I'm confused. Which server do I join?

Andrea: some random retards joined, supposing from the fact that a public server is visible on BYOND page.

We wanted to, but didn't know how. And now Johbson is AFK.

yes, i noticed that. and now after the random syndicate who killed me for doing what he ordered me to, there is a mad yelling "REVOLUCTION"
. and he started killing people in arrival shuttle too. i seriously hope he is not from this forum. killing at spawn point is an horrible thing to do in any game.

Sigh. So what now? Which server should I join?

As for admin-making, its easy: in your goonstation folder, go to the config folder, open admins.txt, and wright your byond name WITH NO CAPS followed by a dash followed by admin type. Example:

Code: [Select]
poltifar - Host
AGAIN, NO CAPS. Else it wont work. And i dont know what type of admin there is other than Host, so better just keep it at that. Also, better to erase all the other admins in that file while you're there, for extra security.

It seems that we won't play today, but I post an instruction how to set up a proper game:

  • Download the source from here.
  • Find admin.txt in config. Delete this shit and set up proper admins (with no caps).
  • Forward the port 1521 on your router (TCP) and unblock it on your firewall
  • Launch BYOND, File/Start Dream Demon...
  • As a File, set Private. On Visibility, choose Private. As a port, set 1521.
  • Click "GO". BYOND will inform you if your IP is not accessible from outside - it means you forgot either port forwarding, or changing firewall settings.

EDIT: I forgot an important disclaimer: port forwarding is only necessary, when your hosting computer is behind a router, as a part of an internal network. If you are connected directly, you don't have to do this (and have no possibility to).

It depends from your router. You just enter the settings, and set it to forward the specified port to your internal IP.

You have to download all of them. Use rapidshare link I posted earlier, it will be faster. Or download TortoiseSVN.

I think I'll put this off until zac hosts. The whole lack of admins is worrying.

Right then. Who's the host for tomorrow?

Remember to make me admin and not abuse your own admin powers. Don't forget who's the organizer and bouncer of this event. :D

I wish I could host, just to have the pleasure of not including you in the admin list :P

hmm... i don't know how to enter my router's settings. that might be a problem.

i am probably not going to host, but being able to wouldn't be bad.

(and poltifar, if i ever host, i'll let you do that if you want :P)

andrea:
First, ensure you have a router ;)

Then: Start/Run..., cmd, ipconfig. Your default gateway is propably a router. Connect with it via http. Enter login and password (if you haven't changed anything, it's most propably "admin" and "admin"). Then you can search for port forwarding.

hmm... i am not sure i know thw password... but tehre is a thing i can try. if it fail, i'll just ask my father. he did the whole thing.

ok, i am in the router... but language differences don't help. i think i ofund the right place (same i used for warcraft III), but it asks me if it should be TCP UDP or both. what should i do?
