If anyones awake, I will be hosting the server very shortly. I probably won't be playing, however.

I don't really think we need a main hoster. Just a main admin list and a main version for us all to use.

If you're able to host and see no other Bay 12 servers, host. If you see a Bay12 server, join it.

Also, I invented the name Bay Station 12. Stop plagiarizing it.

Important:

Johbson, Gantolandon, and any one else that wants to make modifications to the code (including me):

We NEED to keep the code organized so that we can easily add/remove stuff. As such, lets make it a rule that anyone that wants to add something to the code must add it in a NEW code file (make a new filename.dm thingy in Dream Maker) that includes your name in it. If you have to add alot of code, do it in a new folder that includes your name in it. And if you just HAVE to remove some code that is already there, keep the old file, make a copy of it, add whatever you want, un-include the old file from the .dme, but KEEP it.

That way, we know who added what and who is working on what, and can add/remove according to bugs/needs/etc...

EDIT: Also, which version is the agreed upon 'main' version that we must all use? I have a version different from the ones we played on, so I want to download the version we are all using to start trying to mod stuff in.

We need to get our hands on the latest SVN of Goonstation, then mod it to our heart's contempt.

I have the one that Gantoladon has, the one with a chemical dispenser in by default. It's not far from the latest one.
The link to download it is somewhere a few pages back.

Just make sure you are modding the Public.dme version, because I hear the Private one has some bugs.

As it seems no one is sure what version to consider the 'main' one yet, I'm just gona mod my own version. I think its close enough to the ones we used to play that any simple code modifications would work on both.

I sure hope you don't make any secret changes.

Considering I wont be hosting the files myself and I will thus have to send my code to someone else who will have to copy the code into the main code file while most probably checking it over, that would be impossible.

Don't worry. If there are some sort of 'secret' changes, we will find them out quickly.

Are you kidding?  "secret" changes are awesome.  They're what give the regulars a little advantage over the pubbers...

Then, why everyone tells me not to put in any secrets changes in my version?

Oh come on.  I don't mind.  We'll figure them out soon enough.  :D

...

Well, that depends.  Secret changes to the MAP is awesome, as long as they won't ruin the game once everyone knows.  Because after three games I'd expect lots of regulars to know.

Secret changes to game mechanics, can work, can be awful.  It's cool if it doesn't give a huge advantage to one person who knows it.  IE you'd better not be able to use a pen on an ID card to scrawl "CAPTAIN" on it.  But if excessive plasma inhalation had a rare like 5% chance of giving you a positive or negative mutation instead of killing you (and then probably killing you soon anyway)?  That could be cool.  But don't do that in specific.

Of course, I'm not everyone, so this is only my opinion.
