I found something out: the reason doors and such take SO long to open and look like they're lagging? The sprite animations have delays.

You mean we NEED the current source files just to make a map? there is no basic map stuff like pipes and wires that we can make seperatly....or you cant just copy the maps we make on a different source file?

No, the icons for the walls and pipes are specified in the object definitions. You can't even open a map file without opening a project first. Try it with an empty project and you get errors.

You can map with placeholder graphics, as long as all the .dmi files exist. It will default the icon for you.

Also, it is possible but time consuming for me to strip the game down the it's purest essence, the atom definitions, and even cut out the unneeded ones so that you have the bare minimum to make a map.


However, this would take effort and quickly become out-of-date, while stil possibly revealing hints at the underlying mechanism behind the rest of the game.

On a lighter note, The boulder has started rolling for the Tool Storage update!

Hoorah! Anything found in the Tool Storage rooms is getting this update, and will be sporting either minor tweaks, or major overhauls! Also note that not all things will make the cut, as some things are already at critical graphic mass.

Quick patch:
Please replace all /atom/moveable/M with /atom/M in supply_shuttle.dm

This will allow immobile objects to move with the shuttle such as constructed grates and stuff.

I'm starting on making the engine more efficient, a pretty significant change to the current map, and one I wouldn't want to have to duplicate to a different file; if qwertyuiopas and anyone else who has map changes could PM them to me, I'll integrate them to it while I'm working on it.
