I have an idea for engine and propulsion:

Engine: Warp core :)
Basically a new reaction, dilithium crystals (mined or made) + cold plasma = superhot plasma.
This plasma is then passed through heat exchange pipes on the same tile as the TEG heat exchange pipes, to generate power.

This Warp Core has another use:
Warp engines, how the ship/station moves, takes in superheated plasma and travel time depends on temperature of plasma.


Possible additions:
Special glass for containing immense heat of core, some sort of field generators to generate force fields (can we haz tile edge(window style) forcefields?) in case of breach.

Of course, these forcefields should be possible to power down..... 8)

Perhaps the crystals should grow in the presence of plasma, and the crystals themselves power the ship. Thus, you have to carefully harvest the crystals for power, and they can get loose and flood the ship if unchecked.

I heard something about realtime map-loading.
Would it be possible to get a skeleton of a station in the beginning and add modules from a supply-shuttle-like system?
Choose a module(and associated cost) then choose a slot?
I can visuallise what a module would look like, so I think I will download the goonstation source we are migrating to and map some. (Obviously I don't know enough DM to make them WORK but I can at least plan them out)

Yes*!

(*pipes not included, unless someone writes a proc to regenerate pipe linkages or converts pipe construction into a more generic and reusable form. Currently, once makepipelines() is called, pipes cannot be added except one at a time with the items. Unless things have changed with the new code, that is.)

with a gap like this:

Could the pipe items be generated in the proper position? With the ones in walls being connected via the just laid pipes?

That sounds good too. Gives engineers more jobs too. It docks but must be wired and piped in.

The problem is that the pipes wouldn't connect at all, even to each other.

Unless the goon code is different to the old code.

Oh. That would be a problem.
EDIT: How do you add wires? I don't care if they work or not, but I'm making a mockup for when the pipe problem is resolved.
