Ahem. It is space STATION 13, not space SHIP 13. Quato Dolor Sit Amet Ergo Sum Ex Deus, it doesn't move.

Now, we can work with the current technical limitations- the 2D issue- by simply going to the only really reasonable kind of 2D station design- a ring.

I like the idea of more public areas. Presumably a non-recreational place to eat, as opposed to the bar. A Gym makes sense, since they basically have one on the ISS... though that is being generous. Maybe the equivalent of a gift shop? Just a place for people to get knicknacks, which incidentally would make pretty functional blunt instruments.

Ah, how about an Arboretum/hydroponics bay. Fits the space theme, and can be fun to have shipboard gardeners finding new and inventive uses for pruning shears. Plus carnivorous plants.

One other thing I was thinking of; a stockpile and quartermaster who oversees it. The stockpile keeps a backup of most equipment, as well as metal parts, glass plate, electronics... and the quartermaster position is a great place to be, since in an emergency they get to start hoarding things. Of course, he'll be wiped out by the rebels immediately, but it'll be fun.

And of course, ideally, the Quartermaster should focus mainly on distributing repair tools and equipment as necessary and ordering replacement parts... like that's going to happen.

If we had 40 person servers like the Goons do, I would suggest having a special meeting room where Heads meet, just like Star Trek.

I will join you on Steam, but I will have to install it on my laptop first.

We do have the quartermaster in both the older BS12 codebase ("Supply Officer") and in the GS codebase we're moving to.

Also, if anyone wants to know why I'm so willing to take up Nannek's request, the rules say you have to do something "cool" with the codebase and show you're a good coder.

I'd say helping write the codebase we're moving to definitely counts.

Weapons systems would be another thing to add, even if mostly they were there just for show.

Or for shooting down meteors before they strike the ship.

Uh... in order to host you have to have the code. Before you ask, no, you aren't getting it. In order to map, you... have to have the code. No, you aren't getting it.

Not sure if anyone told you, but there is an open source codebase.
And the one we are moving too also.

And I'd fine with Nannek.
The only reason I dislike the goons is because several of their admins are abusive as hell.

Just wondering, bombs only destroy things on the z level relative to them, will bombs be made so they can destroy down and up in z levels?

That'd probably be a goal for the distant future, if it's possible...

It makes me sort of ambivalent about z-levels, since fire and explosions are such a big part of this game. And if we're shifting to a ship, we no longer have a plot-hole like "Why is this space station flat?".

Tell me all I need to know about being a atmo person on the bay 12 station.

You can use the valves to spread gas to the station.
Switch the valve that leads to the input. hit the blue screen, switch it to max.

Now go to the same blue screen in a hallway, and you can release the gas to the room it is labeled as.

If you are a traitor, have fun with invisible CO2 and N2O
and then set the entire place on fire with some plasma cans.

Otherwise, be bored.

The message above is sad but true. Maybe if we punt ahead with this ship idea (which would be great), a general 'do me-uppie' of jobs and things for them to do could be in order. Importantly engineers, I love that job, yet its limited to so little. If we do it right, the job would become one of the most important ones. You never know  :D

With the map, making a atmos-safe bridge to the prototype engine is possible :D

Why not make an "empty room" in the middle of the ship which holds the proto (still in space). Just like, a box in space in the middle of the ship. Untill we think of something beter.

Those were on the table for thigns to be done to finish multi-floor support :P
