If you've just arrived, you may have credentials already.

Elsewise, arrest randoms who take random jobs.

The not knowing their own station would still be a pretty big downside. Maybe use it for the random event abandoned stations?

This is very awesome idea.

Could have station maps generated along with the map.

Haha, no.  The maps take about an hour to build.

Not in-depth ones, pointing out where all the objects are, just like rough blobs maybe around a circle in the middle, something like Startopia. I don't think that would take and hour. =P

I'll use smileys to demonstrate my point, as much as I can.

Obviously, more than that, but something like that.

Indepth maps would be possible.

Pre-render the map and each of its sections, then paste the pre-rendered sections into the right location to create the map.

Although Johb's idea is better

Just throwing the concept in here.. I mean it seems pretty obvious to implement for a simple but effective tool of increasing re-playability. Don't think I ever saw two battlescape maps that were alike in X-Com (1), I mean, sure. The same basic modular components, farm-house, two story building, barn, field of vegetables, giant burning space-ship wreck... But arranged differently each time.

And ejecting a pod that's unrecoverable (alien infestation, fire, boarders, all three) sounds decently utilitarian. :D

Our posts are becoming redundant, duplicate ideas are cropping up, do we keep building this Thread of Babel?

Also: We need a plasma/blood/blob/stuff Decontaminifier.

I suggest a tumble-dryer and a laundry room. A sub-job of the janitor. (Or prisoners)
Also: Laundry carts you can hide bodies in.

yeah, we could use prisoners are forced labour on the station. It gives us a new mode too, UPRISING.

Each round, if you elect to be allowed to, you can become a prisoner, and do menial jobs, like walking carts around, and janitorial stuff, overseen by security guards. The prisoners have to take over the station or somesuch, this would be a VERY secret mode, so people don't Metagame, as this is VERY metagameable.

Every mode is metagameable..and metagameable when it is randomized.

Still, I'd just make us do secret all the time if it was up to me.

Also, dead bodies should be able to go into a washer, and after say 5 minutes, be identifiable if they weren't. Oh, monkeys too. In fact, there should be a rabid monkey starting in the washer about 10% of the time.
