I want to avoid a situation like the older wikis, where spam-bots ran uncontrollably (Although I guess the DF wiki is running fine)

A lot. I fixed them. For one, trorbes was down as using zolo009's key. Also QuinnR's not a super admin any more.

Git is fairly simple, install tortoise git, right click inside the folder, and select Git Clone.
