Hey there! Here are some useless programs I made in a stupid language.

beginning.rb: Some random shit I made first. Includes a fake loading screen that plays with what I learned.
name.rb: Asks for the three parts of your name and says hi.
pi.rb: It knows pi!
angryboss.rb: He is your boss and he is impatient and angry.
toc.rb: It's a Table of Contents!
twonums.rb: Asks for two numbers and tells you some assorted facts about them.
loop.rb: A time vortex. Say 'bye' to escape it. Ctrl+C if that doesn't work.
recognize.rb: If your name is my name or my father's name it says hi, otherwise it says hello.
favnum.rb: Takes your favorite number and makes it better!
deafgrandma.rb: It is your deaf grandmother. Same as the loop to escape.
say.rb: A little question process. Comes with sample quiz.
tree.rb: A simulation where you take care of an orange tree from birth to death. Use 'help' for help.
dice.rb: Greatly expanded dice roller. Comes now with prompt.
And others I forgot about!

If you're looking for random things to do with programming languages, I highly recommend Project Euler. The problems there are a good test of your programming skills, and are often educational to solve, to boot.

Just to clarify before the inevitable, these programs are written in Ruby, so you'll need an install of that to run them.

Now, time to man up, try Ruby-on-Rails, give up, and switch to Python. You know you want to.

Pirate the hell out of 'em.
Torrents ain't just for movies, games and other time wasters, it can be used for cheap as free edumacation. There are complete courses worth of textbooks on random stuff like medieval economics and society, art history, crazy advanced math, and the kicker, programming.
Maybe you have a moral dilemma.

Who needs to buy books? Dive Into Python is probably the best 'books' on learning Python outside Python's own tutorials.
