Immortal Defense -- a Tower Defense Game
« on: May 11, 2009, 05:47:05 pm »

The creator of this game is a frequent poster over at TIGSource.  It's a pretty damn unique take on the tower defense genre, and actually has a compelling story (what).  I've spent more hours on the demo than any other tower defense game.

It's a downloadable thing, not browser-based, but the demo is huge and worth it.  And it's pretty.

And if you're going to buy any indie game in the near future, it's a better investment than Democracy or Kudos or the other better-advertised-but-crap games out there.

Don't get any misconceptions:  It's not a branching storyline, it's just a snippet of story with each level.  But it's actually pretty good, for that kind of storyline.  You get to understand just how totally far gone your character is from the affairs of the people he's trying to save.  So it's cool.

This was surprisingly short of a thread for such a great TD thats now been updated and released on steam. And significantly updated at that. New options and new levels and widescreen support, among other things.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

This is one of the few games that made me get actually emotional (which is really really impressive for a tower defense gme)  and I have trouble recommending it highly enough.

Whoa.  Of all the threads to come back to the forum then check 'replies to my posts' to see right up at the top.

I've been playing a lot of Creeper World 3 (a bizarre re-take on the tower defense genre that's half RTS and fun because of how unique it is), and I guess I need to grab Immortal Defense on Steam now...  Thanks for the heads up!

(seriously I JUST got back to the forum guys)

Edit:  Wow, it's even more catastrophically hard than I thought.  And there's these side 'medal' campaigns that are supposed to test your ability for each specific type of point, but they really aren't messing around, they are much harder than the main campaign.  Geez.  Yeah this is 110% nintendo hard.
