I'm getting bored, so I need a megaproject to do. Could anyone suggest a good one? Medium difficulty if possible, stupidly tricky if not.

Giant dwarf clear glass statue.

Build a giant tower with the roof being the top z-level. Then, have a hole in the middle that leads all the way to the very bottom of the map. At the bottom of the shaft, place a table, made of bauxite or something else with a reddish colour, and build a dining room or gladiator arena around it. Ideally, somebody would be dropped down the shaft, fall down a lot of stories, and land on the blood-red table (the altar), while the dwarven priests chant "blood for the blood god!"

Build a deadly labyrinth. Run goblins through it. Make sure none survive.

Or, do what ein suggested AND set up a system of magma pumps that can pump magma all the way to the top. Not only does this make a challenging megaproject, but also gives you magma pump pressure sufficient for making any other megaproject involving magma that you can think of!

So a giant tower going from the top of the map to the bottom with an execution shaft that doubles as a magmafall with a bauxite altar at the bottom in the middle of a gladiator arena? I'm definitely building this next time I embark somewhere with magma.

Giant tower with magmafall it is. I might modify it so I can pour magma out a side if I get invaded. Depends if I can get it working in the first place.

New question, do all insane friendlies get caught by cage traps or is it only the berserk ones?

I actually loled.in real life.Better yet wait for acid to be implemented(if it WILL be implemented)...

EDIT:Also make sure he has balls of steel(blocks)!And give him a beard!

I have completely thought about making a large urinating dwarf statue.  Plumbing layout is the first thing that comes to mind when I see or read about giant dwarf statue megaprojects.

I tend to think of it like a flamethrower dwarf, with the flamethrower fuel tank (magma/water reservoir) attached the back of the dwarf.  You can use the inside of the dwarf statue too if you aren't already using it for rooms.

Set the "splashdown" point as your entrance to the trade depot.  Show those obnoxious elves what you REALLY think of them.
