I'm having a problem using 40d11:

I get a Fatal Error: Main index file missing/corrupted. I've tried looking for solutions, but none seem to exist. The files extracted to the right place, and I've tested 40d, which works just fine.


I've tried redownloading and reextracting but I just can't get it to work!

I'm not sure if I'm missing something, but I'm running on Vista SP1. Anything else I'll try to provide.

According to these people, you should check to see if your directory structure is intact.  Do you have a <DF root>/data/index file? 

Also, are you installing in Program Files?  If so, try somewhere else.

Also, are you extracting the fresh downloads on top of the old ones?  If so, don't do that either.  The safest thing is to delete all files from a previous install before reinstalling, although saves etc. are okay to keep around.

If none of that works, try poking through these other search results.  Most of them mention Vista.
