A new freeware game just came out about a week ago that I thought DF players would get a kick out of: Infiniminer! It's a multiplayer FPM (First-Person Miner). You dig into the earth looking for ore (for constructing blocks, jump pads, ladders, force fields, TNT) and treasure (first team to bring $5000 worth of jewels to the surface wins). Mostly it's fun for just building giant fortresses and hidden bases deep in the earth (and trying not to accidentally flood your tunnels with lava).

Here's a screenshot I took of some pesky lava:

and here's a bridge I built over it, with a ladder to the surface (the blue force blocks are passable by blue players, which makes it harder for them to use my ladder):

My friends and I have been having a lot of fun with it. The player models are pixelated sprites; if I can figure out how to edit the player textures I'll add some beards to them and post it here. There's also a map editor you can find in the comments on the site if you wanted to remodel your fort or something. You can play using Hamachi or just by knowing how to forward ports in your router, I'd host a server but I'm currently at work (taking a bit of a break to post this!).

I couldn't get the Hamachi installer to run on Mac.

Are you sure you installed all of them? It wouldn't run for me until I downloaded the XNA 3.0 Runtime

well, im pretty sure i downloaded it, but ive been talking to some players from the gamersteve forums and they say its a driver issue, im fixing that, and it should work,
