I need to melt a glacier

What do I do? I had hoped it would melt in the summer, but it's too cold for that. And unfortunately 'water' is not editable in the raws.

I suggest using magma/lava Pump it up with pumps made from water (the stuff you get from digging in ice). (is that possbile, or will the "water" melt?).  If you don't have magma the only solution I see is digging out a lwo layer and then putting it on a support. Then drop it.

Channel several layers of rock under the glacier and CAVE IN! It would melt )

But the most fun way to melt a glacier is to lure fire imp/man out of the magma vent and let it run around

If you have access to adamantine, then try using a *HFS* to melt it all. The *HFS* melts pretty much anything around it...try and use it to create a massive cave in. Many dwarfs may die for this. Which makes it totally worth it

For future reference, that's why it's "a glacier" and not just "some ice".  Glaciers don't melt in the summer.

If you hadn't noticed, this game does use RL natural patterns and rules as much as possible as patterns for how it operates.

It will be destroyed, but it produces water, do the effect will be identical.
