Prisoner's Log
Fifty seven, that is the number of times I've been sent by the King to create a new settlement. That is also the number of times I've failed to create a viable new home for our people. If it isn't one thing it's another, from my compatriots going insane. to some fool dwarf incorrectly building a cistern and everyone dying of thirst when brewer refused to brew. Or having insane goats running around causing havoc, or that one time the damned lava flooded the lower levels of the last mine I was in charge of.
If it weren't for the fact the mountain home is literally busting at the seams from over population I have no doubt I'd have been executed by now. As it is I've been locked in a dank cell for the last few weeks. From what the guards tell me, the king is going to give me one last chance, and this time I'm to either succeed, or not come back alive.
Once again I'll be the leader of seven dwarves, I only hope this time they aren't the insane fools I've had to deal with in the past. Dear gods, is it so much to ask for a few sane dwarves that actually know what they are doing for once? And not build pumps to flood the dining halls with lava when I turn my back? There's the concept, the Mountainhome is so over populated that the current king doesn't care how many dwarves die. Only that they get out of the mountain home that can no longer sustain them. The leader of the expedition has been the sole survivor of the previous fifty seven attempts at creating new settlements in ideal locations. All of them ending in disaster for one reason or another.
Due to this, he is being sent to lead one last attempt, with the orders either make this one work or die trying. Only this time he's being sent to a swamp where he's guarranteed to fail. Only this time he might just make it work. Six other dwarves either exiled, or desperate to move some where with a bit of room to move about will join him.
The scout report has the starting location as an untamed swamp, with sand, felsite, marble and gabbro deposits. There are plenty of trees and an expected aggressive animal population. The man bonus besides the sand is the possibility of a magma pipe somewhere in the area. However the land is completely and totally flat.
I need names and skills for six dwarves, with a maximum of 10 skill levels per dwarf. Also I'll let you guys optimize the supply list for whats going to be in the first wagon.
Both Economy and Artifacts are OFF. With a population cap at 60. With the options of turning those on once all dwarves in the place have everything they need.
