I wouldn't be too worried, a person can't spend every day, or even every other day, playing Dwarf Fortress and writing up a log of the events. Perhaps he just had some real life to eat this weekend.

Imagine a cool peice of sky-blue and milk-white marble about 3cm by 2cm and by 0.5cm, containing a tiny 2mm malacolite crystal. Now imagine the miles of metamorphic rock it's embedded in that no pick or chisel will ever touch. Then, imagine that those miles will melt back into their mantle long before any telescope even refracts an image of their planet. The watchers will be so excited to have that image too.

Journal of Zerris Lashedwrung 2nd Limestone, 203

The shooting range seems to be used quite a bit by Dash Gunmetal the only dwarf as yet who is training in the use of the crossbow. Due to the fact there has been reports of cave adaptation I have removed the meeting area status from the Dining hall. The only meeting area left is the one outside to force those who've begun to spend all time indoors to head outside for a bit each day. Labs was the first to show signs of the unfortunite state.

The Woodworker who replaced Sheriff Pete as our carpenter has finally started working on the animal traps that have been back ordered for months. Finally we may be able to start filling those pet requests. One of the Caretakers had their jobs expanded into being Trappers as well.

Journal of Zerris Lashedwrung 5th Limestone, 203

The mandate expired today and Labs Lensshoot was thrown into one of the cages set aside for Justice by Pete. For fifty one days he'll be stuck in there  Also apparently I have forbad the export of tin items. Which is odd since we have none.

Journal of Zerris Lashedwrung 6th Limestone, 203

Cage Traps were constructed around where the drawbridge rests on the opposite side of the moat. This should catch the next goblin attempting to kidnap babies. Speaking of babies we now seem to have one more.

Journal of Zerris Lashedwrung 9h Limestone, 203

Today I have ordered the carving out of the new internal trash dump. Even though the expanded trash pile on the surface is doing alright we need to be able to get the bones for bolts and such even during a siege. Thus on the level just below the current work area I've ordered a large area with only one three cubit long entrance to be made off the main hall for that level. It's only slightly smaller than the new primary  wood storage room so should be able to hold a lot of crap down there. Though unlike the storage room it only needs two support pillars.

Once two doors are placed at either end of the three cubit long by one cubit wide entrance it shall act as an airlock. Keeping the stench locked inside the room as much as possible.

I've also ordered the creation of a watchtower and well house to be built to the south by the brook. Once completely sealed in three levels of ramps will bring us into the tower from the fort. And interesting way of making a well as well as of course creating a place to guard where the dwarven caravan goes by.

Journal of Zerris Lashedwrung 13th Limestone, 203

The Dwarven caravan arrived today. I immeditately ordered all of our trade goods to be brought up to the surface for trade. This included some prepared meals, the barrel with the imp meat. The Imp leather bag. What crafts we had, mechanisms, oh yes and some of the over stock of Dwarven Wine. We have several hundred units of the stuff while the others weren't too happy I  was selling booze I explained I was just selling that type in hopes of a bit more of what we currently are unable to make. I also removed the Wine from the banned list for the kitchen. We have simply so damned much of it that we barely have room for anything else.

The village liason came however from the northwest as opposed to the normal southern direction. I wonder if another outpost was made in that direction or he is coming from trading with the Humans. Even though the rest of the caravan came from the usual southern direction.

Journal of Zerris Lashedwrung 16th Limestone, 203

I found an interesting thing in my private dining room today. A masterpiece of an engraving on the floor. I have to admit though having Giltauther immortalized in my dining room isn't what I expected. However At least it's just a portrait of him sanding there. Of course it shows his arrival to Soothedcraft, and thus his old elven style clothing.

I also had an animal trap placed just outside the door to the food stocks. Hopefully that will catch the vermin before they get in there.

Journal of Zerris Lashedwrung 22nd Limestone, 203

Finished trading today, was able to purchase loads of of tower-cap wood, charcol and potash. The best part was all the steel that we are able to buy as well as rum, ale, and beer. We were also able to get a few more seeds, we sold of course the imp meat and bag. Let the Mountain home deal with meat to combust the eater or a bag that burns the hands of those who carry it.

Journal of Zerris Lashedwrung 24th Limestone, 203

I was re-elected as Mayor today. Apparently I am still doing a good enough job that they want me to stay in office. I checked how long Labs had left on his sentence and its 31 days. I've tried to ask Pete to let him out early but so far it's no good.

Journal of Zerris Lashedwrung 1st Sandstone, 203

Labs' assistants have completed work on two of the three steel floodgates that will be used to control the flow of lava for the forge complex. Our Armorer however started acting strangely today. Suddenly rushing to one of the two forges in the original forge room. Where upon she dove for the iron bars, taking three before begining to pound away at the metal. I assigned a war dog to guard her, even as she began to mutter about needing shells.

In case we can't find any shells I've ordred one squad of soldiers to patrol near where she is working.

Journal of Zerris Lashedwrung 13th Sandstone, 203

We carved out a massive chamber for an expanded food store. The old one was always overflowing with food and drink and seeds.

Journal of Zerris Lashedwrung 17th Sandstone, 203

Ascubis got annoyed by a kobold today while he was outside the fort walls. From the guard report he'd slammed his iron pick through the skull of the thief. Ah well that just gives us more copper to use. Or another dagger to sell.

Journal of Zerris Lashedwrung 19th Sandstone, 203

Jeffers' Engineer assistant delt with another kobold with his bare hands. Breaking his hand and stunning him. Only to strangle the little bugger to death. Like the first one the belongings of this one were recovered. Also apparently there is a axedwarf hermit that is living near by. He's friendly it seems and spends most of this time hunting the slugmen and then trading them to the Village for food and drink.

Journal of Zerris Lashedwrung 21st Sandstone, 203

Seven more migrants arrived today putting us at a grand total of sixty dwarves. Most were fishery workers and a couple of peasants. There however was also a professional trapper in the group. They came in from the northeast of the swamp. Makes me wonder just what is going on outside of our swamp.

Journal of Zerris Lashedwrung 11th Timber, 203

Today a new baby was born placing our population at 61 dwarves. Hopefully like the other three the girl will be safe. Last thing we need is for a second child to be kidnapped. Pete finally released Labs from jail as well hopefully we won't have to worry about any such things again.

Journal of Zerris Lashedwrung 16th Timber, 203

The Armorer Likot Groovebolt went stark raving mad today. We were unable to get the needed shell and she went completely nuts. She spent most of her time in the dining area babbling gibberish. She then ran and hid in her room. She then ripped off one of her gloves and began running around the halls before we could lock her into her room. Tossing her clothes here and there as she ran about in senselessless.

After that she ran all the way outside, then back inside. And then back to hide in her room. This time we managed to lock the crazy bitch in there.

Journal of Zerris Lashedwrung 25th Timber, 203

Today we held another funeral, this time for one of our soldiers who perished in a training acident. The worst part however was that she left behind three children, one which became a farmer and the other was still a baby with the middle one a child. Her husband had been the Champion who perished in the goblin raid, in which both his and her other infant had been kidnapped.

:( that os so sad! :'(
journal entry:
i watched in amusment as an armour ran through the halls striping off heer cloths. after that i was alittle terrified. then one of our soldiers died. after losing a husband and 2 children in a raid and now she leaves behind mre children. i wonder how we r going to survive if those goblins come back. seeing as how we have only one marksmen. i fell i might give him some company if i every get a replacement miner i feel a sword is quiet useless if u r not skilled enough but even then u can perish. but atleast a crossbow keeps u a distance away from melee soldiers

Journal of Zerris Lashedwrung 1st Moonstone, 203

Winter is upon us once again. And the project to make an internal outdoor farm continues. One of the bogs within the Fort above has been expanded and reshaped. This will hopefully give us an outdoor farm thats uniform. As the surface ground of the swamp is not very viable for planting as it is underground. At least that's what Fori has been telling me these last few months after the first outdoor farms were reduced to ash.

Journal of Zerris Lashedwrung 5th Moonstone, 203

I've been told that the internal garbage dump is working just as expected. However with the stones and or stuck in there from the excavations the haulers are having to deal with the stench. However the airlock does indeed work and keeps it in the chamber.

Journal of Zerris Lashedwrung 7th Moonstone, 203

The one of the guard ordered the drawbridge raised, it seems that the two babies that had lost their mother were playing around above and were heading dangerously close to the the bridge. Also since that cut us off from our currently only valid watersource and the well house isn't finished yet. I ordered one of the inner bog walls to be mined out to the moat. True it means there is a hole in the defenses but so long as the moat remains filled that would be a very difficult one to get through.

However that is easily solved by flooring over that bog and building a well over it. As well as a hatch cover for the ramp into the bog.

Journal of Zerris Lashedwrung 21st Moonstone, 203

Our fainting engraver gave birth to a girl today. From what I understand she was carving Petes office wall when she went into labor. Also one of the babies fell into the bog I ordered work to be done to get it out as soon as possible.

Journal of Zerris Lashedwrung 25th Moonstone, 203

The goblins have sent a raid of three crossbowmen, one wrestler and one pikeman. I've ordered ALL non military dwarves to go inside. Ascubis and his miners, Nvim included grabbed their picks and charged up to the entrance of the fortress as well. This is especially dire as the eldest sibling of the three young orphan, a young farmer had gone out to gather seeds for Fori.

She didn't make it.. the goblins quickly killed her, however the soldiers and miners set up an ambush by the drawbridge. It was left down specifically to draw the goblins in. Three of them were captured, the pikemen and two of the crossbowmen. The other three were drawn into the trap and quickly slaughtered. However Keith gave his live charging one of the crossbow wielding goblins distracting it long enough for the rest of those gathered to kill the remaining goblins.

Journal of Zerris Lashedwrung 5th Opal, 203

The baby Morul Shoottrumpet drowned today. Dispite attempts to get her out of the water she perished. Once her body is retrieved, we will bury her along side her parents.

Also Ascubis seems to have become possessed by something. He claimed his masonry shop, then ran for copper nuggets, rock crystals and alunite. He's since run into the shop and begun working up a storm.

Journal of Zerris Lashedwrung 6th Opal, 203

Fori threw a tantrum suddenly today. Labs seemed to be quite unsure how to deal with his girlfriend as she ran about screaming. Especially as no one could figure out just what set her off.

Journal of Zerris Lashedwrung 7th Opal, 203

Fori killed Iden Workedquests during her rampage through the village. I've ordered Pete and the guard to catch her an lock her in the jail until she calms down. Hopefully before more dwarves get killed.

I couldn't believe it.. everything was just... falling apart.. AAAAAAAAGgggggghhh!

Journal of Captain Pete Gildtree 7th Opal, 203

Shortly after the order for Fori to be put in jail, or dear Mayor began throwing a tantrum of his own. I believe the stress of the job got a tad to much for him. I will be until either the next election, or he regains his senses continuing the Village records.

Fori calmed down but not after strangling Ineth Grizzlylash to death. She has since been caught an put confined to jail for the next 26 days. The same for Zerris, he destroyed a building in his current tantrum. So far however he hasn't killed anyone.

One of our miners also threw a short tantrum but calmed down without causing any damage or deaths.

Journal of Captain Pete Gildtree 9th Opal, 203

Ascubis has finally finished working on whatever he was making. Turns out it was a cabinet.

Quote
Niles Assar, "The Strap of Circumstance" an Alunite cabinet.

This is an Alunite cabinet. All craftdwarfship is of the highest quality. It is encrusted with native copper and rock crystal and encircled with bands of alunite.

Journal of Captain Pete Gildtree 11th Opal, 203

Both the Mayer and Fori are currently in jail.  Zerris keeps throwing tantrum after tantrum however he can't do much inside the cage.

Journal of Captain Pete Gildtree 13th Opal, 203

Yet another raid by the goblins, this one was slaughtered by the soldiers. More dwarves however are throwing tantrums on and off by the day. It's getting to the point hardly any work is being done.

Journal of Captain Pete Gildtree 18th Opal, 203

Likot Groovebolt died of thirst today which is odd as we have plenty of water and buckets. Ever since the first goblin raid things have been getting worse and worse. I'm unsure as to weather or not the Village will survive.

Journal of Captain Pete Gildtree 27th Opal, 203

Some asshole thought it would be a good idea to destroy the drawbridge that was the ONLY way in or out of the Fort above the village. I've ordered its reconstruction but this is getting ridiculous.

Journal of Captain Pete Gildtree 2nd Obsidian, 203

Metal Militia was murdered today by one of the many tantruming dwarves. It's like everyone one has gone insane except for me and the rest of the guard. Everyone is running about trying to get the work done. Only for everything to fall apart everytime yet another dwarf snaps.

Journal of Captain Pete Gildtree 3rd Obsidian, 203
One of the jewelers that work with Giltauthor snapped and went beserk today. We were however able to barracade him inside his room.

Journal of Zerris Lashedwrung 12th Obsidian, 203

I'm finally out of jail and coherent enough to take over my duties as mayor. I thanked  Pete with a barrel of wine for doing such a good job in this, asylum that Soothedcraft has become.  Already our jail is nearly full from captured dwarves. And still others are tantruming on a nearly daily basis.

One again for some reason I've mandated the creation of three tin items when we have no tin at all. I find it odd that I would demand such. One remaining children who haven't drowned, went beserk was well today. I've also discovered that in my absence Pete expanded the internal Refuse chamber into a graveyard due to the lack of coffins and the over abundance of corpses.

Journal of Zerris Lashedwrung 17th Obsidian, 203

The child was murdered today, during a tantrum. It seems nearly everyone has gone insane here. Save for most of the Founding Seven, Fori only threw that one tantrum and is now cheerfully working after her stay in jail. But everyone else seems to be fighting or killing everyone else. And it all seems to stem from the last goblin raid.

Journal of Zerris Lashedwrung 26th Obsidian, 203

No one seems to want to rebuild the drawbridge. So I ordered the building of the final ramp for the water/guard house. It means a security risk however we can now get the goods from outside.
