Gah. Question #2 is invalid. I don't have the Colonial Fort, so I can't sell any artificats at all. Sorry for that.
"El Presidente, you are making a lot of enemies..."
It all started when I looked at the national budget.
It takes time for crops to grow, so I get in a national debt. It didn't help that my second Presidental Edict, after the anti-corruption act, was to establish a military alliance with the USSR. Luckily, the USSR's foriegn aid of $4,000/year bailed me out ($3000+$1000 for the military base), but I was making no profit and basically living off the welfare of the Soviet Union.
So I decided on trying to maxamize what little profit I have by cutting wages. I reduced all uneducated workers' wages to $1, and all HS people to $5. This did not go over too well with the general population, especially the Communists, who are against wage inequality. The leader of the Communist Faction became very upset at the policies, even complemenating my replacement.
Meanwhile, the wife of Commander Trifes, leader of the Militarist Faction, gave El Presidente a firm warning.
So, I rose the wages of the military to $10. However, Commander Trifes' wife is still angered because I then did a cutback of the military, from 4 palace guards to 1 palace guard. I did keep Commander Trifes as the sole military personel.
Commander Trife's wage, by the way, is a farmer. So, she's getting paid $1/month. She's nonplussed, and therefore, so is the rest of the Militarist Faction.
Meanwhile, I am regretting building THIS.
Originally, this was built as a way to provide entertainment while at the same time funnel money over to Switzerland. But it seemed people didn't like entertainment when they had to deal with other pressing needs. And there is no real way to make profit off entertainment buildings, it seems. I also can't get enough sleep because the loudspeakers in my Childhood Home screams "Vive El Presidente" every two seconds...Gah.
This Childhood Home is being used to boost my respect with the people. There is no fee to enter into the House, and I made the loudspeakers two times as loud, in order to drive the message home. But, this house is an annoying blight on civilization, and it should die in a fire.
In other news:
*I seen in the Wall Street Journal an editoral by the leader of the Capitalist Faction arguing against my regime and proving my country is anti-business. The US is giving Islari $0, so it seems the Diplomat Trait really was useless, in retrospect. Oh well. I'm demolishing the Embassy for now.
*The people have not rebelled...
yet. A majority do dislike me though. A wage increase back to normal might get me back in their good graces.
(If your 'exploit' is building, cancelling, building, it doesn't work- money is removed from your account again.)
While 20% of the money is removed, 10% of that money get sent over to your Swiss Bank Account. Though maybe it did get fixed in Paradise Island. /me shrugs

EDIT2: It seems Demolishing stuff cost...money. Oh dear. I fired the diplomat though, and closed all slots, and I'll wait until the next aid infusion before I destroy that Diplomatic Ministery.
EDIT3: Commander Trifles has quit the Military. He now hangs around at El Presidente's Childhood Home, possibly getting drunk or something. There has to be a reason why SOMEBODY is going there.
