I wonder what Freud would say about venus envy.  Basically, you've got a man who feels like he should be a woman and therefore is incomplete.  But Freud tells us that all women feel incomplete because they suffer from penis envy.  So doesn't that mean the man really is desiring to be what he already is?  But not only that, he seems to desire to have an unfulfilled desire (an unfulfillable desire if I ever heard one!)  So he wants to be a woman but want to not be a woman.  But if we go with this, the woman he is desiring to be would still desire to have that unfulfilled desire, so she would not be desiring to be a man, but desiring to be a man desiring to be a woman.  And not only that but a man desiring to be a woman desiring to be a man and so forth to infinite recursion.

Yes, this thread is intercoursing...I mean, interesting.
I don't put much stock in Freud's ideas. He is to psychology what the first car was to the auto industry: a clunky, flawed prototype. That being said, he does have a few interesting things to say about humor and laughter. Many of these ideas don't even involve penises.
