Link request? Dwarf Fortress 40d9 / 40d11 with installer

Just want to have a proper install / uninstall button. I'm OCD that way.

You prefer to litter such things as your Windows registry with data that might not get cleaned up properly during uninstall over just having a folder with all the required stuff inside? ???

Installation is really only useful for programs that need to integrate with the operating system. There are exceptions to the rule but really for any other software, installers are completely unnecessary (try copying an installed instance of a software package (commercial or otherwise) to another machine; 9 times out of 10 (if not more) it will work just fine) and will only clog up the already-dreadfully-cluttered registry with data that could very easily have been avoided.

Dwarf Fortress does not integrate with the Windows shell or anything like that and as such there's not really any point to having an installer.

The uninstall button is shift+delete ;)

Also I'm not sure how this ties in with Dwarf Fortress Gameplay Questions but that's me just picking nits. ::)

So, you deem installing/uninstalling games part of the gameplay?
You sir, might be easily entertained.

Obviously you've never played Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl. Getting it to work is all part of the Fun.

You don't need to keep stuff in the registry for auto install/uninstall. You just won't have the entry in the Add/Remove section of the Control Panel.

You don't need an installer for Dwarf Fortress. Download the file, extract the zipfile, bam, ready to play.

For someone to give you a version with an installer would require one of us to get a free program to package it into an installer package, compress it, upload it somewhere with storage, and then allow you access. I doubt someone else is going to do all that to satisfy YOUR mental issues.

The uninstall button is shift+delete ;)

Shift+delete? Why the shift?

the shift deletes a file permanently, instead of sending it to the recycle bin.

-Idly wonders if there is a lever button by which one can dump magma on the files, thus removing them from existance forever-
