How easy would this be?
« on: May 05, 2009, 09:47:05 am »

To mod every single soil and rock layer to be Adamantine?

I guess there would have to be several types of it, to allow plants and trees to grow on one, and another to collect sand off of, but would it be possible to just mod all rocks into Adamantine?

And if I do this, would other civs start showing up with Adamantine equipment and goods?

Not sure about hte first two, but for civs to use Adamantine stuff, they need to have [METAL_PREF] (I think this is the tag) and Adamantine musn't be [DEEP]

heheh, it would be so much fun to have a HFS in every tile.

Anyways, yeah pretty much what Chaoticag said. However i'm not sure if the metal preference tag is needed. Either way it wouldn't hurt to keep it in either if Adamantine would be your only metal.

HFS won't show up in non-[DEEP] layers, if you know what I mean.
But yeah, that's possible as far as I know, that would be way overkill, and painful on the eyes, though.

People have done it.  I think what happens is every other civilization, except elves and kobolds? Can now use it.

You could search for it.

Would it work if I had one type of Adamantine set to [DEEP], and another set as the generic rock layer?  Both could yield raw Adamantine upon being mined, right?  There would be no problem with that?

I would just delete all the other rock types?

Yes, if I remember right, it should work like that.

Ok thanks, I'll try it soon and post my results.

Would this spawn multiple demon pits?

No.  It will not spawn multiple pits.  It will still be the same.

Also, I would recommend the [DEEP] ore be something... different-ish.  Try a different color... well... unless you want a surprise.

Keep in mind that the metal must also not be [DEEP] for civs to use it. Unlike stone raws, if a metal has that tag it doesn't do anything other than prevent civs from using it, so nothing bad should happen when you remove that tag.

So far, I succeeded in changing all stone layers except Obsidian and Bauxite to Adamantine.  However, when it's mined, it gives me a generic stone named Adamantine.

How do I make it give me the actual Adamantine? That you can extract strands from and such.

A rose by any other name...

What you want to do is add the [METAL_ORE:ADAMANTINE] tag. That's what turns junk stone into precious ore.

I have a bunch of entries such as
[MATGLOSS_STONE:ADAMANTINE2]
[NAME:raw adamantine][COLOR:3:7:1][TILE:156]
[SEDIMENTARY]
[METAL_ORE:ADAMANTINE]
[VALUE:250]

In matgloss_stone_layer.txt.

Am I doing something wrong here?  The other entries are basically the same, except for the numbers and tags such as [IGNEOUS_INTRUSIVE].
