Uploaded the new map to the Map Archive.

Can be seen here.

Unfortunately I was offline and out of town for the entire weekend so it will take me some time today to read everything that has been discussed and make up my mind regarding the votes.

Seems to be the way with things on this forum; if an invention doesn't involve death by magma then you know someone's going to go out of their way to make sure it does involve death by magma... then it gets acknowledged as being a great invention.

I apologize, I intended to indicate I would be willing to chair, but obviously that didn't happen... As we still need ot determine a chair and director, I will (late) accept chair position. As for director, I highly advise AGAINST me being director. My computer at home is still not fully operational (from the move- that's also why my posts were limited and short over weekend, iphone is hard to type on). But, while at work I can easily post and act as chair.

- Entrance and drawbridge to be built in the south wall, seconded.
-- Support: Grail, Emmanovi
Goron votes aye.

- Creation of pen, seconded.
-- Support: Emmanovi, Grail
I would like to see this happen, but I do not think the priority is that high... I do not think our breeding program will bloom in a single season, and as such I do not think we NEEED a pen right now. We will need one yes... but the priority is limited at the moment. So I will vote aye, but indicate my desire for the director to look at this issue with the lowest priority... meaning, work on it only when nothing else is a better use of dwarf time.

- Raising the walls to another level and adding a walkway for guards, seconded.
-- Support: Yaddy, Emmanovi, Org
-- Against: Grail
Goron votes nay. I am with Grail on this one. Let us finish what we have now, then expand it upward... I say that grudgingly, as you know I dislike going up and prefer going down.

- Building a wall on the hills to complete current wall, seconded.
-- Support: Yaddy, Emmanovi, Org
-- Against: Grail
Goron will enter a Nay vote for now... But I need to peek back at plans a little bit... my vote may change... maybe not,.

- Goron to act as next chairdwarf, moved.
-- Failed, no second.
I can do this.

List updated to reflect above.

After some consideration, I have changed my vote regarding the walls. I agree that we should tidy up the fortress and finish outstanding projects first, so that we can have a stable and ready fort by the end of the year. New projects and things can most likely wait until then.

I know this is a lot of work, but do you think you could post a list of all the dwarves and their skills? - and what labors they have activated?

Also indicating which ones are controlled and by who (we have a couple new people, right?)

I'll try to do this myself (with the last posted save) tonight on my laptop at home if someone doesn't beat me to it.

We still need a new director do we not? Since I am new I do not know who to nominate but all I know is that it is a necessity.

As previous director, I'm happy to make a list. Shall work on it now.

As previously stated, we do need one. I'm currently seeing if anyone will volunteer themselves, but there is still time left.

Lav, Myself, and Emmanovi having already gone; with Lego and Goron turning the director post down, we're left with Org and Yaddy. So I nominate Org for his seniority, and then Yaddy if Org declines or doesn't respond. Hopefully we'll get this issue settled before voting ends. -_-

My seniority?

Hmm...

Well....

I have lots of time....

But I am not the best player. Before I accept, I must know:
What  must I do?

hehehe, I am definitely not the best player either, but I don't think that matters too much- that should just add to the fun:-)

Give it a whirl, then, I should be all set up at my home and able to play by the time your run is done (likely even in time for this next one but better safe than sorry). I'll be able to further break anything you mess up during your go ;D

nah, jk, Im sure you'll do fine.
It seems directorship is pretty simple and straightforward, just follow the votes and try to complete all that was voted on. This early in I doubt we will see any big crises.  My biggest problem will be playing with the ASCII tileset. I am a mayday pawn myself, so I have a feeling it will be a long night when I take my turn:-)

Forgive me if I'm wrong (I've never used graphic tilesets) but isn't the tileset used dictated by one's init file and similar settings? As in, downloading and using the save file, won't everything display in your local tileset?

What  must I do?

Well, that's what we're currently voting on. :D

Essentially, you're running the fort for a season, trying to accomplish the things we vote for, and logging your progress so we can see what has happened. Being a "good player" is no requirement, Armok, I wouldn't call myself a particularly good player, I just looked at what had been decided and tried to get as much of it done as possible, whilst keeping an eye on the fortress to make sure it didn't fall apart. Not that it would, it was made by dwarves!

Incidentally, this might be a bit late and would probably be best left until next year for voting and suchforth, so feel free to disregard it for now, but I propose that a director can declare a State of Emergency if they feel the fortress is greatly threatened. In such a SoE, they may issue whatever orders they see fit, so long as those orders are made with the survival of the fortress and the relieving of the SoE in mind. Martial law, if you will. Alternatively, if they do not feel up to making decisions in such a time, and/or strongly suspect that they are themselves unable to relieve the situation, they can update the other dwarves, relaying the situation, and asking for advice, in which case action taken should be voted upon.

Do you accept your nomination, Org?

Only a season?

Currently we're working in seasonal shifts. Lav took the inital Spring, Hilscher took Summer and then I took Autumn. So yes, just a season.

See I'm really not sure... I would think that graphic tilesets are pretty much independent of the save, but I thought I remembered reading someone had trouble in a succession game because they were using a different tileset than the game was made in...
Anyone else have any input? I can go dig around the sections of the forum to find any previous discussion on this topic too.
