I didn't think of vermin refuse.  I normally don't have cats.  But the food stockpiles are only two levels down, so I don't think it will really be a problem.

Although here's a new idea:  We put the unusable refuse stockpile between the surface and the food stockpile (or an area near it where stairs can be placed).  We channel out the roof of this room and construct floors over it and have a staircase going down near the food stocks.  Then we have the usable refuse stockpile near where we will build our workshops (until this area is dug, a temporary usable refuse stockpile can be placed in the room that will eventually be an extra farm plot).

I just thought I might suggest Google Moderator to help with the democratic voting you're using here:
http://moderator.appspot.com/

It allows people to submit questions into topic categories, each of which can then be voted on. Topics can also have deadlines. Check it out, it seems well suited to what you're doing here.

Okay, I'm a little unsure of this, but I've gone and attempted somethingorother.

http://moderator.appspot.com/#15/e=6a001&t=6bb6b

Feedback, people? By the way, is there any way of restricting who can vote/suggest? That is, approve certain members to be able to vote and such, to prevent non-members from doing so.

It looks there's no way to control who can vote on Google. You just have to be signed in.

Anyway, for as long as there are only 7 players, getting 4 votes pro or contra should not be a problem even in a forum thread.

And I can make some voting script later when we have real need for one.

Another matter. Katsuun has declared in a parallel game that he quits. I'd like to know if this means he's quitting this game too.

Concurred.

So far, the suggestions for the Summer season are as follows:

Refuse piles (100% underground or two smaller ones, still no consensus on this question).
Rock-crushing pit.
Flooding the second farm plot.
Citywall.
Water wheels on the brook.
Waterfall.
Workshops space below ground.
7-tile-wide hall with traps and maybe a bridge.
Trade depot somewhere aboveground.
Trap-filled gauntlet.
Meeting hall (many statues, a table, a chair).

Some plans have been drawn as well. I assume city walls are according to the earlier suggestion, encompassing quite a large area, which probably means that the trade depot will be somewhere at the edge of the city perimeter.

Unless more suggestions come I'm going along with the current set of objectives.

"I have one last thing ter suggest. I propose we elect a chairdwarf ter set deadlines fer votin', so that those who do not vote can be disregarded after a reasonable amount o' time, an' long-term non-voters punished accordin'ly. Meetins should be 'eld at the start o' e'ry season. Motions should be presented, voted on, and passed or shelved in a timely fashion, so that e'ryone gets their say but it is all completed in an orderly an' expedient way, preventin' a repeat o' this drawn-out, chaotic process in the future."

I see the good reasoning behind your suggestion, Grail. In fact, I should like to nominate you for this position, given your organisational skills.

{It is our duty to ensure that it does not die! If there are people willing to continue, and by Armok there's at least one, then we cannot simply let it fall. If people are exceedingly unresponsive or are unwilling to participate any longer, then we can dictate their positions open for others, and in the meantime continue as planned.

This is a democratic fort wherein decisions are voted and agreed upon. Things will take time, but that doesn't mean they simply die. Lav, are you still around?}

{I vote we keep this going and go with that outlined plan.  Although I think Lav might be trying to get a write-up.}

(Taking time to get things done is not the problem. The extremely low post-rate and post-volume is, though. We need timely voting and content updates. It can't take two weeks - or however long it has been - for a season to resolve ever again. Let's get a seasonal update, Lav. I'm still here, but I'm ready to bounce if things don't change. We have at least three Dwarves who have not said a word - they should be replaced ASAP.

Hence, I hereby move that Martian, (Voksdon) « Last Post in this thread on: May 08, 2009, 09:38:50 AM » be nullified and his place made open for someone new.

I further move that Goron, (Goron) « Last Post in this thread on: May 08, 2009, 07:29:41 PM » be likewise nullified and replaced.

I lastly move that Katsuun, (Kat) be nullified and freed up for someone else if, as Lav suggests, Katsuun has gone inactive.

I allot 24 hours for these measures to be seconded, and then an additional 48 for them to be voted on by the remaining members of the thread before being resolved at 5:00 PM CST 2009.27.5)

I second the motion. I don't really have enough free time at the moment.

No, feel free to, though, if you haven't already. They have a right to know that these motions have been made.

Alright. Real life comes first. See you, Martian. All in favor? All opposed? Probably a formality since Martian himself seconded, but it'll be nice practice for voting if we're going to do it like this from now on.
