Will animals heal in cages?
« on: May 04, 2009, 12:19:50 am »

Hi,
I have a mangled war dog in a cage in the dining room (I thought he deserved a nice location after killing a werewolf and losing a leg).  Will he heal?  Or will animals only heal out of cages?

Cheers

Animals have trouble healing most wounds. While I think they may be able to recover from broken (i.e., yellow) wounds given enough time, they will not recover from mangled (i.e., red).

It's better just to put them out of their misery and butcher them.

Of course, very few players ever have any dorfs with the Animal Care skill, at any level, so that may be a factor as well.  :-\

Well, that's because Animal Caretaker doesn't do anything. For the animal, anyway. The dwarf will get experience, somehow, even though nothing's happening.

This skill is bugged AFAIK.
