Underground river creatures don't respawn? What if the river starts off the map?

I can understand cave river creatures not respawning if it starts on the map, but what if it starts off-site and ends on your map? Can they spawn in from the edge? I'm getting frustrated by having all my river critters get flushed down a hole while I race to drain the river to keep them alive, or just not getting cave crocodiles/not getting enough.

No. If you want cave critters i suggest grabbing a Pool rather than a River; River critters tend to fall out, or get a River which doesn't end in a hole.

Next version will fix the underground diversity problems (adding big caves, more underground features, migrating underground creatures etc.), but for the moment they're all limited.
