I am curious to know where you live Yanlin.  You said being an athiest is like being gay there.  I take that to mean you find the people around you dislike gays and athiests.

I have decided to take my own advice from the "tolerance" forum, and refrain some engaging irrationally in this topic, errr, again.

to all:

Live long and prosper. (the best sum it all up well wishing I can think of)

Stop taking things out of context. Atheism is one of the only religions that don't ask you to pray or donate money.

Not yet...

Though I wouldn't just hate every religion just because of a few fanatics take it too far.

I mean by that logic if a couple Atheists massacred 20-30 people while screaming "DIE YOU DELUSIONAL RELIGIOUS FUCKERS"  I could then hate all Atheists because they are obviously all Psychopaths out for the blood of the Theists

@yanlin:  just re-looked at your profile.  Israel.  I can understand the idea of most people there being against atheism or homosexuality, although that is an assumption.

I would suggest to you, based on your posts, moving far far away from the place that for 1000's of years much of humanity has called the holy land.

Well only in the last 1000-1500ish years has it really become a holy place for much of humanity,

Before that it was just a place where the Jews and the Christian Cult called a holy place.

Oh yes. People here hate gays and atheists. Well... Most people I meet. I don't meet the best people apparently.

I realize the entire world is not like this place. But I find it hard to view religion differently after seeing stuff like televangelists, Jehovah witnesses, Islam, Scientology... The list goes on.

isreal is not necessarily against homosexuals

the city Tel Aviv is argued to have a homosexuality rate that lies between 30-40%, and is internationaly known as the "pink city"

at least the modern cities there are very tolerant

So your basically saying that anybody who isn't an Atheist or whatever you are is Delusional, lazy and basically a heathen?  :P
That was more toward not critically thinking.

Looks like the world gets some common sense over the time  :)

If they can keep peace down there (which i doubt with the new israelic goverment  :( ) and try to understand eachother the Humanity would have made a great leap forward.

:-* thanks akroma for this thread.

Reality isn't a make believe thing.

By not critical thinking about what you believe, it allows for at best waste of time to steal the time and money of the unwary. At worse causes serve detriment to life.
Do you have no idea what you just said?  You pretty much just said "Atheists are right, you are stupid for not being atheist."  No, those weren't your words, but that is what they come off as.  If you were at all capable of critical thinking, you would realize the contradiction in your argument.
...
No, I said you should crit. think about what you believe. I find it curious you think that crit. thinking would lead you to atheism. I know a few person who default to a form of none interacting deist, because they like the idea, and know and accept that it there because its comfy.

I'd believe you on the point of "For people who already want to switch" if it weren't for all these fucking preachers going around saying I'm gonna go to hell if I don't start overdressing and praying.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

You obviously did not meet the kind of people I face daily. The people who literally preach it in your face. Seriously. Take an ordinary Christian, tell him you're an Atheist, what will his reaction be? If he's respecting that, he's not really a "Christian". He's just a conformist.

The people I meet, they PREACH it. The only ones I've been able to stop from preaching are the ones with a brain. I've made them think rationally. They don't bother me anymore.

Basically, Atheist crime squad! We need a slogan!

About Occam's razor, it is not overused. It is underused. It will continue being used until religious people realize it's a real tool of real science to focus real efforts. Believe it or not, there is research being done towards discovering god. Occam's razor is helping it.

Templeton Foundation comes to mind.

Well in the early days of Christianity it was just a measly little cult.  It didn't go from Non existant to World changing powerhouse in a day.

A while ago you said that people doing that weren't doing critical thinking.  And now you say it's good.

Do I need to spell out that, after a lot of critical thinking, that is what I do?  I used to be a fanatic, I think I should point out.  I'm not anymore, but I'm still Christian.  Is that not enough?

Im pretty sure he's just trolling everybody now.

Still think toady should ban religious debate, its getting out of hand, it seems like people are getting offended and some statements are getting misconstrued, some posts are making pseudo "IF YOU NOT *Religion or Not-religion* YOU ARE MORON" Its just a big half-flame-fest now.

I hate to say this, but that's just one city. It's about the only city that tolerates homosexuality.

Over here, only the most reasonable people tolerate it. Ditto with atheism. In fact, just being not Jewish will get you some serious stigma.
