There are no pigs in DF.
Just in case you hadn't noticed.
I thought VERY deeply about fixing this after Toady's last interview.
Theres no direct link that the pigs accually spread the flu, it was named swine flu just due to having mostly pig genes in it.

Still though, even though there are quite a few confirmed cases in the Mountainhomes, no one has died yet there.  The deaths are down south in The Hot Continent of Sombreros.  They've shut down everything down there though.  Everyone's labor has been turned off except guards and medical staff.

Everyone report to the main hall. Everyone sick gets a "temporary" vacation and is sent off to the newly built "hospital" on the right. Everyone else return to work on the left. Bonecarvers, train up. We're going to "import" a lot soon because are bolts are low.

True, just stay away from Mexico, and those who have been infected.

And you can't contract it through pork consumption.

Personally, I think that the Pandemic level should be relative to the spread distance, effected population, death rates, and hospitalization rates, of said disease.

It is.  But it's the potential, the extreme potential - and that's not known yet, how virulent, how lethal.

They're playing it ultra safe - which is the only way the wise should play it.

Don't forget the elite team of Dwarven philosophers, who are even now racing to try to figure out how to introduce it the local goblin populations.

Strangly those with the Butcher labor enabled want it to be called the Hybrid Flu instead of Swine Flu.

Some wanted to call it the Mexican flu.  And then were surprised that the Mexican government objected.   ::)

Call it the goblin flu. See if anyone steps up to be the spokesman against that.

Genes or jeans? I've heard that orc denim is rather rare, and as highly valued as giant cave spider silk.

There are three things I know about dwarves:
1. They've got beards. Even the women.
2. They're short. Especially the women.
3. They're Scottish.

Only if it's made from real orcs.

Bah, killing elves is recreational. Killing goblins is the foundation of the Dwarven Economy. Similar to how Indians used every part of the buffalo, dwarves use every part of the goblin as they're a vital source of iron, bone, and laughter while elves just provide the last two.

Goddam, I can't wait for diseases to be implemented. Does anyone know if they'll be in the next version?
