How many hits to kill a tank, anyway?

Well, considering my AI buddies were busy shooting at it when it arrived, I got around four hits in while they were just pounding on it. And, since it was the second chapter, I didn't get a damage report. I assume that they did the majority of the damage.

BRB LOADAN UP AND TESTAN

EDIT: Okay, with a Machete on Normal, it took me nine hits to kill the tank. It might have been ten, but a normal infected got between me and the tank when I sliced him, so I couldn't tell whether or not I hit. Note that hitting a Tank with your gun doesn't hurt him at all and just gets him to chase you instead.

I killed the wandering witch(at the exit of the hedge maze) while on my own simply by unloading my ak on her while crouching 30 yards or so away. I also killed a boomer that wandered in behind her while i was shooting without noticing him until i saw the explosion.

Do bile bombs work in versus? Do they see the biled witch/tank as a clone of a survivor?

Also, the new special infected, as well as the new skins for the old ones look worse then the original.

Wait, we can kill tanks in 1v1 melee combat now? Or do they hit faster now to counter that?

They still hit at the same speed, but if you're going in 1v1 melee against a tank, you gotta attack while his punch is cooling down, and you usually can't get more than a single strike in before having to haul ass on pain of massive damage. The window of opportunity is so slim anyway that you're still better off just shooting him. He punched me around twenty times before I'd reached five hits, so it's rather grossly impractical. It's still awesome, though.

Smashing them with the butt of your gun doesn't hurt them, no. But using a dedicated melee weapon does. Hell, there's even an Achievement for it.

I'm waiting for the Versus mode demo.  It sounds like normal difficulty is the new easy, and if versus still only uses the normal difficulty, well, yeah.  D:  I wanted survivors to have LESS of an advantage!

I'd be willing to bet the new survivor shit gets nerfed pretty quick for versus, especially the melee weapons. Especially seeing as how the old strategy for versus (that worked the best, in any case, which is almost always how I saw survivors win back when I played frequently), was to run as fast as possible to the end, barreling past anything in the way. The melee weapons make that even easier, as instead of just knocking zombies down, you slice them apart as you run past. Even in coop that worked pretty well, as you'd end up with a horde spawned behind you, chasing you, and taking up all the slots so almost nothing spawned ahead of you.

Altogether, my impression of it was a tightened up left 4 dead, with blander characters (though to be fair, I don't really remember getting much of an impression of the originals from that demo either, and I preordered that after my second play through. :D ). I don't think it's worth buying, at least at its full price. Hopefully they'll run it on sale at the end of the year, like they did the original. If it's cheap enough I'll get it then.

Personally I found normal to be just as hard as normal in L4D one.  That is, exceptionally easy.  The game is only hard on expert or with an X-Box 360 controller.

I decided to give the demo a go, and I've played it a couple times with Deon and a few others.  Then I installed an addon that allows you to (in a somewhat hacky fashion) play as the infected.

Man, that's loads o' fun.  Even though he's not exactly the most powerful, I've got a special place in my heart for the Jockey, just because he oozes personality.

And pus.  He oozes pus too.  But mostly personality.

I actually think it'd be fun to have a sort of mini-game, "The Steeple Chase".  Four survivors without weapons, four jockeys.  A racetrack.  The survivors win by fighting their jockey and finishing last, the jockeys win by finishing first.  An epic battle of wills between survivor and infected!

But maybe that's just because I happen to have a hell of a time riding people, and just want to do it more often.

Anyways, I noticed a few quirks.  For instance, AI survivors will not shoot a boomer close-range because of their explosive bile.  However, if you are a boomer and you've managed to lock yourself into close quarters with them, simply hit the attack button (not barf) and they'll shoot you before you can get a swipe off.

This can, of course, be completely circumvented by simply binding the "kill" command to a key and then hitting it at an appropriate time...

On the waterfront map, it's possible to load as an infected and run down to where the survivors are before their intro animations are over.  This allows you to puke on all of them with impunity, causing a massive rush of infected to come barreling down the walkway.  Again, loads of fun.

I've also had a couple instances where I'll line up a charger's rush just perfectly, where I crash into all of the survivors and then run off for quite a distance while still carrying one of them.  In the time it takes everyone else to pick themselves up and run after me, I've been able to have all sorts of fun with my new little squishy-toy.

Also, AI survivors cheat.  Like, bad.  I've been shot through solid walls a couple times, and they don't seem to have any effect on the witch.  I was playing a smoker and hiding behind a wandering witch, so they'd shoot her instead of me.  One of them unloaded on me from about sixty feet away with a submachine gun.  Killed me, left the witch standing and still just aimlessly dawdling.  Dang.

Ahh yes...  How fun it is to get a little quiet time with that one straggler.  It's loads of fun just pounding them into the asphalt until there's nothing left to hold onto.  Really makes you feel like you're accomplishing something.

When you get killed by a charger, you still simply go ragdoll i assume?

It's be nice if the survivors had all the new dismembered parts that the infected acquired.

Same with the SI's other than the boomer.
